Any remedies? I started taking melatonin, which does put me to sleep, but I'm wide awake 2hrs later. 4:30am here, and I've been awake for the last 3.5hrs.

celticgreen, i am not a dr. nor do i play one on this forum, but drugs may not be the best solution, - its one of these issues that must be fixed in order to get the 6 hrs your body craves.

1) repair money problems ( gambling, job, bills, work sales down?)
2) repair relationship with spouse or girlfriend
3) pain management- neck back, shoulder etc
4) excercise- drink water- cut out coffee and caffeine especially, energy drinks after lunch, this shit stays in system and jacks with your mind.
5) check your bed and pillow, get the best you can afford, and person sleeping next to you if they are snoring get a fan or sound machine and crank that shit up.
6) have a routine and stick to it like an athlete,
7) this has helped me , when closing lights and tv keep eyes as wide open as possible and dont blink for as long as you can take it, when eyes tired get your mind to an imaginary book and open it the first page- it has the abc's , repeat 3-4 A's, than goto page 2- 3-4 B's, page 3 has 3-4 C's, keep turning the page and repeat in your mind each letter 3-4 times as far as you can go, you will not gets to zzzzzzzzzz.

I hope this helps, ambien and drugs did not help me, above helped me

I'm sure Imisremember's advice is sounder, but ambien works wonders for me. Most of the horror stories you hear are from people misusing or taking with alcohol... Also, if possible keep the tv and laptop/ipad etc off for 1/2 hour before bedtime. I can't seem to do that but I know that is supposed to be helpful.

Anyone else have their hot streaks wake them up? I played live poker on Saturday and won $1100 in about 2 hours of work at 2/3 NL. One of my best ever sessions and certainly most efficent. I followed that up by drawing 4 aces on video poker for $800 later in the day (missed the kicker). Now here it is Sunday AM and this 2k I just won has woken me up. Happens everytime. The money wakes me up looking for action. 5 hours of sleep and the demon shakes me awake. wtf

Good problem to have I suppose, heh. I have had horrible days/losses wake me up early in the morning and make it hard to fall back asleep, but never wins...

I couldn't sleep at all last month. I would wake up after 2 hours and be up for another 2 hours. To make it worse, i was working 13-14 hour days. Think it was a combo of stress and possibly scabies or something. My legs itched like nothing I have ever felt before. It is finally getting better tho.

Some people say turn off the tv and all noise, for me-having the tv on actually helps me out a lot-not sure why, but it could be worth a try to put on some boring tv show

I use it and I love it. Ambien doesn't work for me at all, it actually keeps me up, but Lunesta knocks me out for a great 8 hours of sleep. The only downside is the price... Since Ambien has a generic version, it only costs me about $20... Lunesta on the other hand costs me about $190, and that's AFTER insurance takes off about $100. I rotate between Lunesta and just a regular over-the-counter Melatonin 5mg.

Try and establish a bed time for yourself and be consistent with it. That has helped me

Seems like most people can either can sleep with the tv or not. I, for one, cannot. It will awake me evey 30 minutes and I will be miserable with a tv on trying to sleep. A fan though... providing "white noise" ....oh man... I sleep well. (unless the degen demon wakes me up like I said earlier in thread). The fan has got to be on strong enough to drown out breathing, farting, snoring - from any other room or the wife.

I cured myself from insomnia with homeopathy or the herb medicines work like a charm , with the consultation from an expert that is.

After the birth of my son I felt miserable for various reasons. [/URL].

A very poorly written article. If someone has insomnia, it's really best to seek the help of a professional, who will probably have you do a sleep study.

I have come to realize I NEED a full 8-9 hours of good sleep each night to feel right. I used to think you did not need much sleep and I am sure we are all different but I do not do well when I do not get the proper amount of sleep. As I get older it is harder. Weed helps a bit and been taking sleeping aids for about 8 months and that helps, but once someone wakes me up it is always a major issue trying to fall back asleep. Anyone here good with just few hours sleep?

Great suggestions on getting into a routine, turning off all electronics a couple of hours before bedtime, not to mention some foam rolling could help. Beyond that get checked out by a doctor for sleep apnea. This isn't something to fool around with.
