Here's all the reasons I'm taking the Braves tonight.

Today I decided to just take one game and analyze the s%^t out of it. Probably this is what I should be doing every day instead of just relying on models.

Anyway, I'm taking the Braves tonight. Last year Hudson struggled against the Nationals but the two main reasons were Ryan Zimmerman (.667 average vs Hudson) and Rick Ankiel (.500 average vs Hudson). They both blew him up last year, but they are not in the line-up tonight and neither is Jayson Werth (.276 average, 4 HRs this year).

Tim Hudson has already proven that he can take down this weakened Nationals line-up, earlier this year he only gave up 1 ER to them. On the other hand, Gio Gonzalez got destroyed by the Braves a couple of weeks ago.

There's a few other angles I like here for the Braves. They are 7-2 in home games, while the Nats are 4-6 in road games. The Nats are 0-8 in their last 8 games vs the Braves. I doubt that tonite is the night they turn that around, especially since Atlanta is hungry again after sleeping through that monster road trip. Now they are back in Turner Field, where they typically destroy people.

- Moneymaker stat: in his last four starts against the Braves, Gio Gonzalez has not gone longer than 5 innings. That's good news for Braves backers, because the Nats' bullpen has a 5.22 ERA in road games. When Gio leaves this game tonight, the Braves will have some feasting opportunities.

-Another thing to consider: Gio Gonzalez gave up 5 ER in his only road start this year and lost, while Tim Hudson won both his home starts. Tim's stat line doesn't look great right now, but you have to realize his last three games all came on the road. Two of those games were against the hot-hitting Pirates in Pittsburgh and Rockies in Coors Field. Everyone gets destroyed at Coors.

Bottom Line: the Braves have hit 16 HRs in only 9 home games this year, look for them to get this done tonight while Tim Hudson rolls a quality start and the Braves bullpen locks it down.

Good night
