I like what I see for the Cubs in this matchup. In their last 7 road games the Padres have only scored more than 3 runs twice. For the Cubs, in their last 7 home games they've topped 3 runs 5 times already and now they are going for the series win today. They have a nice little 6-4 run going right now, and for the shitty Cubs that feels like a dynasty.

In fact, in home games Cubs have one of the best offenses in the league. At home they have a .279 team BA and they've hit 17 HRs in only 11 games !! The Padres on the road have been horrible, with a 5-10 record and only hitting .239 (11 HRs in 15 games). I see Wood being able to shut them down today, especially with Yonder Alonso out (.280, 3 HRs) and Venable out (.280 vs Wood).

In his last three starts Wood has been dominant, with a .92 WHIP and only 12 hits in 19 innings! Meanwhile, Stults has sucked in his last three, getting lit up to the tune of 21 hits in 17 innings and a 1.35 WHIP. And Woods posted those impressive stats against some very good teams: Cinci (in Cinci), Pittsburgh (in Pittsburgh), and Texas at home. The Padres are not going to scare him today, that's for sure.

Money Stat: Wood has not given up more than 3 ER in any game this year!

Money Stat #2: Padres have averaged 2.62 runs in Stults' 3 road games.

Money Angle: Padres are playing a getaway game today. Cubs stay home for tomorrow.

In their last 10 games, the Cubs are hitting .287 vs lefties.

I've seen enough. Book me!
