Would he still have 600+ Saves ? and a lifetime ERA of 2.21 ??

Not taking anything away from Mariano.. but the Team he is pitching for Helps some... sets him up for those Saves, etc...

True ? False ?

Chop says no- makes no difference if he pitched for Astros.

One of the biggest misconceptions about saves is people think a closer has to play for a great team to get a lot of saves.
This is not true.
Good teams often win games by more then 3 runs more often then bad teams.
Kimbrel is on a great team.
But even if he was not this would not be a huge factor.
Rivera would have saved a ton of games no matter which team he played on.

600+ saves?? I doubt it... But he still would have a shit load with the Pirates

2.21 ERA, very possible.

Career would have been similar to Trevor Hoffman. He would have performed great, been the best closer, but not nearly as famous.

he wouldn't have 638 career saves....

M. Rivera relieved D. Robertson
- A. Hicks lined out to shortstop
- C. Thomas struck out looking
- B. Dozier grounded out to first

congrats on career save 638
