The St. Louis Cardinals have been on a tear of late offensively. This is team that we are already aware of being an offensive juggernaut for quite sometime now. Over the last 5 games they averaged 7 runs per game. During that span they have 7 HR & 8 2B while hitting .307 as a team. Tonight they'll face Jon Garland who is 3-2 with a 4.75 ERA & 1.42 WHIP. He has given up at least 3 runs in 4 of 6 starts. Against Atlanta, who is the only team hotter offensively than St. Louis, he gave up 10 hits, 6 runs, and 3 HR's in 6 innings. Looking for individual match-ups? Carlos Beltran 12-39 3HR, Yadier Molina 7-9, & David Freese 3-5. Versus STL the last 3 years in 3 starts 9 ER in 18 Innings and the lone start in Busch he gave up 4ER. On top of all that the rain delay yesterday in Colorado forced the bullpen for Colorado to work more than normal. So, if the Cardinals don't get their through Jon Garland look for them to get to five through the weary pen.
