I don't like the weak-elbowed Pelfrey's chances in this matchup tonight. Orioles roll in with an 8-3 record in all series' first games, while the Twins are 3-8 in the same stat. The Orioles are 5-0 in in Hammels' road starts and they are averaging 7.4 runs per game in those starts. Hammels in night games: 2-0, 1.64 ERA. Pelfrey in night games: 1-3, 10.06 ERA. This isn't looking good for Tommy Johns Pelfrey (TJP).

Last year Hammels threw a 2-hitter vs the Twins. And this year even though he lost to them, he only gave up 4 hits in that game. It was the walks that got him in trouble. Regardless, he is 4 for 5 in quality starts on the road.

Let's look at these two teams against right-handed pitching, which is the matchup tonight. The Twins only have two players batting better than .300 vs righties: Mauer (.312) and Escobar (.313). Now look at the Orioles vs rightes:

McLouth: .319
Machado: .337
Markakis: .301
A. Jones: .356
C. Davis: .338 (oh, and this guy has 10 HRs)

Money stat: the Orioles have 27 home runs in 20 road games.

Money Stat #2: I want to remind everyone that TJP gave up 5 earned runs to the Marlins. The Marlins. The Marlins. At home. Got it?
