Yesterday, it was reported across multiple outlets that Texans player had been seriously injured in a car wreck in Miami, including two broken legs.
However, Watt is perfectly fine. He wasn’t even in Miami yesterday, and to the best of our knowledge, does not have two broken legs.
In today’s Internet age, this kind of rumor is easy to start and even easier to catch on like wildfire. I mean, how many times has Twitter killed Morgan Freeman or Owen Wilson now? It’s got to be at least five times each. Watt should be proud that his star shines brightly to even be considered the target of such a rumor — it’s not just anybody that the Twitter rumor mill sets its gaze upon.
Watt took to his own Twitter account to dispel the rumors, explaining that he’s fine and ready to go for the upcoming season. I’m sure quarterbacks across the NFL are just thrilled to hear the news.
A report came out on Wednesday by Global Associated News, which read: “A spokesperson for the Miami highway safety authority (HSA) has confirmed that J J Watt has broken both of his legs in a traffic altercation.”
“He has been transported via ambulance to a local Miami hospital for treatment, and the full extent of his injuries are not known at this time, however, both of his legs were visibly broken and not life threatening according to sources.”
“The accident involved a 2012 BMW driven by J J Watt and a 76 year old female driver in a 2010 Audi. The driver of the Audi was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light before striking the vehicle driven by J J Watt at a high rate of speed. Team spokespersons could not be reached for comment at this time.”
Since there are so many details to the story, it is easy to believe that it’s real, but Global Associated News creates fake reports.
