Any chance they could dump Linda Czarniak. The worst SportsCenter anchor in ESPN's history. Knows nothing about sports just reads from a teleprompter. I don't even think she cares about sports. She truly is the Tom Grunik/William Hurt character from Broadcast News. I imagine her on the phone with her father. Dad, "Can you believe I landed this job"

These layoffs are mostly IT people in NYC, not on air staff. Pretty sad, some have been there their entire careers.

They should also get rid of that second rate Longhorn Network. ESPN just needs to realize that they made a huge mistake and take their losses on this boat anchor.

ESPN has posted record profits and they are going to essentially ruin 400 lives.

Anyone else sick of the corporate bullshit? I hope I can do something on my own some day just to get out of the greedy, political, unsatisfying world of big business.

it will be interesting to see how fox sports 1 does as they going right after espn. if they could pull the nba from espn i would maybe take them serious.

i'm excited for fox sports 1, lot of potential.

as for espn, the network sucks now, and no, i don't watch it other than live events (and college gameday).

i bet mlb network is hurting them, they have made baseball tonight virtually irrelevant (among the people i know at least).

FOX tried to compete with ESPN on a national level before like 15 years ago and it just didn't work. Fox sports national or whatever the hell it was called.
Unless they pay big money and get some of the major sports I'm not sure it will work.

Obviously their deal with the UFC is a major part of this.

In terms of baseball, I believe ESPN is carried by Olney's blog and Law's. Most of their other baseball writers are pretty average, IMO. MLB Network runs CIRCLES around everything ESPN does with baseball. I love Kruk, but the ESPN prime time announcing crews are horrendous.

Excuse me, Lindsay Czarniak. I was really pissed when they bumped Jay Harris off the 6pm EST SportsCenter and brought Lindsay in. That's the SportsCenter I watch the most as PTI leads in to it.

Sad to see people get let go, but it's a public company, and Disney has shareholders to answer to. If you want potential job security and honorable bosses, learn a more valuable skill, and stay at a private company.

They should get rid of that Around The Horn show. Even by talk shows' low standards, it's horrible; I've seen about fifteen minutes of it combined and I already hate it.
