The Atlanta Braves Evan Gattis is getting use to saving the day. Gattis hit another game tying HR in the late innings last night that help propel Atlanta to a win over the Minnesota Twins. The 26 year old Rookie is .258 with 9 HR's and 23 RBI's in 36 games being versatile seeing playing time at catcher, first base and left field. Atlanta has hit 57 HR's this season and will look to go deep again this afternoon in support of Paul Maholm. Maholm is 5-4 3.83 ERA and has won all of his starts when receiving at least two runs of support. Maholm however is 7.77 ERA in four games when receiving no runs of support so a clicking Atlanta offense will be key as Atlanta tries for an Interleague Sweep over the Twins. Worley is 1-4 6.20 ERA this season and 0-1 5.82 ERA in last four road starts. Uggla is 4 for 9 vs. Worley with 2 HR's and Freeman is .364 with 7 RBI's over his last six games. Minnesota has now dropped seven in a row while Atlanta has won five in a row. Minnesota's road woes may continue today if Twins continue to give up runs in the early innings. Gattis should be in the lineup today in replacement for Justin Upton who draws a day off. With the big bat Gattis is swinging right now, Atlanta has an excellent chance to improve on their strong 14-5 Home Record. Source: ESPN MLB Preview

Braves should be able to keep posting runs vs. Worley's 5.82 Road ERA and Maholm should be sharp at home today as in earlier in the season. Today the focus will be Atlanta -1 -134 looking for Braves to sweep Minnesota with Gattis Uggla and Freeman contributing for Atlanta at the moment. An afternoon game today with a start time of 12:10 EST.

Atlanta with an early run as Minnesota continues to cough up runs in the first inning. 1-0 Atlanta after two complete innings. A very nice day for a ball game after the heavy rains lst night. Those field crews have the maintenance down to a fine science.

You know it is going your way when even BJ Upton with one of the worse batting averages in the NL hits a solo HR. Hot damn the White Bear Evan Gattis with a Grand Slam in the fourth inning. Gattis is the man and pretty soon some bartender in Atlanta will concoct a cocktail called The Great White Bear. 8-0 Atlanta still in the fourth.

I lost a couple of decent bets on MINN a week or so ago - and I have been betting against them since - they are fundamentally weak hitters / and poor pitchers .. like any team they have a few hot games from time to time -- but certainly better Fade Material.

I'm not going to win too much on the -1 bet -- but will just keep adding $$$ to my withdrawal at the end of the month - which is always nice.

Braves complete the sweep of the Minnesota Twins with an 8-3 final. Atlanta now with back to back sweeps for a six game winning streak although vs. teams with sub. 500 records. However wins are wins and this batch on the homestand makes up for some of the losses on the long road trip a few weeks ago. Atlanta now travels to the Big Apple to tangle with the Mets for a three games series begining Friday. Evan Gattis is a real shot in the arm for the Braves and will continue to contribute as long as he stays healthy. Atlanta pitching will be crucial in the upcoming road trip as Braves starters have struggled with road games this season. Fans can be extremely happy with these wins at home as Braves came from behind to win them in four of six games.
