Going to get a tablet this week....

First Question: For those that have it through your cell phone provider for the connection, was it worth the premium price to always be connected to the network??

Orginally I was waiting for the new Ipad because why buy older technology when the newer should be out soon. And I was going to buy the Verizon one so i'd always have signal but given the price I've started to back off the idea...

I wanted an Ipad since I already have a iphone so to transfer apps ect easily but again now thinking not worth the price.

Second Question: Anyone have a Windows OS tablet? Do you like it?

I've never loved the android platforms and like Windows 8. Also, going to be starting a new sales job and need powerpoint, figured having it on the tablet would help.

Third Question: If I go with a non network, Windows Os tablet, any recommendations?

I want to buy a Surface

I bought a windows 8 laptop a month ago and i absolutely hate it. However I think a tablet with windows 8 might be awesome. It would be like having an ipad but having all the computer perks like a full version of microsoft office, abilities to use full websites and install whatever programs you want.

I went to BestBuy a few months ago and paid $410 or something for IPad2 out the door. I use it at home quite a bit cuz its small and you can carry it around the house. Pokers fun on it. I don't take it to coffee shops and douche out so constant internet wasnt a priorty for me.

personally I think tablets are a waste.. you can get nice laptops for close to the price and have a lot more ability IMO by far.

just think about that before you waste money on a tablet and then get limited with certain things.

you buy a windows 8 laptop yet murph?

I recommend windows 8 tablet over a laptop....i thing touch screen is a must and besides speed/memory/drives, i don't see much downside to a windows 8 tablet.

I have the ipad 3 with Verizon and pay $50 for 5gb. It's pretty expensive considering 5gb is nothing but I try not to watch videos on it unless I'm connected to WIFI.

Flash is on the way out man.....sorry to tell you.

funny how apple has had to use this excuse for 3 yrs already @) (semi serious here)...

but honestly.. it still proves my point because androids can run html 5 already so its not like they will be obsolete.. its just that apple is inferior until html 5 controls all .. which will never happen. It will take 5-10 yrs for it to be integrated into every flash site on the entire web and even then most mom and pop websites that might have video up will still use flash I would reckon as html 5 isn't the norm and might not be for some time.

i have a windows 7 laptop, a windows 8 laptop, and ipad, an iphone, and a galaxy note 2

I think both apple and windows products and android products are great.

flash hurts apple a bit....even youtube can only play so many videos. but the functionality is so great on the apple machines.

android is better for phones imo because there are more options. Apple, you have a 4, 4S, 5....wtf man. Androids have different sizes, weights, types...some with stylus, some without, any new tech feature then a new phone will have it. with apple u have to wait 6months for the next version.

agree with murph no start button is very crappy for a laptop.

IMO:

Phones - Android
Tablet - Ipad or Windows 8 (no android)...i like the idea of a tablet with the full version of office and ability to load up pokerstars and other software options.
Computers - Windows 7 before they run out

wait for the new Haswell chip to come out next month and then get an ultrabook, best of both worlds.

I bought a tablet yesterday. The brand is "Hisense", I believe it's only sold at Walmart and it is cheap, $100......mostly bought it for my daughter to have something to play with on a long road trip coming up. I've browsed the Internet with it and works well for my very basic needs. I have quite a bit of music on my phone I have purchased from iTunes and that won't transfer so that sucks, but other than that I'm impressed with it. It's pretty handy to have at the house
