I'm not talking about the cheapie ones you can buy at Walgreen's (Blu or other brands). There are some REALLY nice rechargeable ones out there that are pretty freakin amazing. I recently bought an eGo-W and this thing is awesome. Good throat hit, lots of vapor...feels just like you're smoking and you get the nicotine fix. But no smell, smoke, ash, and all the other nastiness of cigs. And it's wayyyyy cheaper.

I have been smoking a pack+ of Reds for many years and am down to like 5 cigs a day since I got this thing, and those are mostly just out of habit, mostly while driving. The nicotine oils come in various flavors and nicotine strengths. My hope is to get off the cigs pretty much all together using this thing, and then ramp down the nicotine level in the oils I buy.

Anyway I have researched these units pretty heavily and have tried some different ones out on the market. If anyone has any curiosities or questions post them here and I'll try to answer. puff_>>

I saw some girl smoking one of the nicer ones and was intrigued. Talked to her a bit and smoked or puffed or whatever the heck you would call it and I really like it and intended on the spot to go and get one but...... 10 minutes later I got the worst case of the shits and it lasted for about 24 hours. Did a quick search and saw this is somewhat common. Any knowledge on this?

Has never happened to me nor anyone I know, and I have several friends that use various models. Maybe it was that particular kind of liquid? What type of unit was it and do you know what kind of liquid it was? The base of the liquid (that the nicotine is dissolved in) is either Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycol, or a mixture of the two. I have heard that PG bases can very rarely cause allergic reactions but have never heard of the shits. Like I said, luckily it has never happened to me (I use a PG/VG mix), I will have to google it and check that out...

I am sure it was the liquid in it. The unit itself was pretty cool looking. It was about 5 inches or so and didn't really look anything like a cigarette. Just kind of a tinted pink plastic thing

On a quick search I am reading that VG may cause this in some...

From an e-cig forum: "Any amount of <acronym title="Vegetable Glycerine/Glycerin/Glycerol" style="border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-bottom-style: dotted; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); cursor: help; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">VG</acronym> makes me have diarrhea 100% <acronym title="Propylene Glycol" style="border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-bottom-style: dotted; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); cursor: help; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">PG</acronym> does not."

You can try a 100% PG base...

That's the eGo-T, it was one of the predecessors to the eGo-W. Either way, I'm sure it was the juice. If you liked the e-cig in general and want to try it I'd suggest experimenting around with the bases...

Although an experiment that may or may not result in you shitting yourself for a day straight might not be very desirable, heh.

Yeah definitely get them online. There is one site I use where they are super-friendly, prices are great, and they stand by their products. I'll PM you the link as I'm not sure it's kosher to do that here.

The site has a phone number. If you are interested call it, a guy named Josh will probably answer; he is really knowledgeable and will answer all your questions. He has probably heard of this phenomenon and would have a good suggestion. You can choose your base type so he may be able to suggest something that works.

Harry Great that you are doing this... wish I can

Well, I have played around with one or two types, Blu being one of them and I don't think it's that bad.

Have a friend who works for someone that sell the type you are using. and I did give it a try. My only problem... and i know it's in my Head !! is that with Blu... it's kind of on a Cigarette size level, where yours is like i'm smoking a cigar.
I understand it's the nicotine fix and the fact that you are not taking in all the crap in your lungs, etc... Plus no smoke
But I find it hard to smoke, hold and carry something of that size.

How hard was it to get use of ?
Again, I'm sure it's just in my head. But i think if they got it down to Cig size, I'd be more comfortable

As far as the flavors go, there are hundreds. Personally I have been mixing "Red USA Mix" and coffee flavor half and half. Great taste.

You're always going to have a trade off between size and battery life, of course. The eGo's are pretty bulky, but the batteries are unbelievable. Mine lasts ALL day, no issues, and while I haven't tested it I'm sure it would last multiple days. That is more important to me personally, especially when on the road, car trips, etc. I'm sure you could find a smaller variation but would lose out on the battery side. Like so many other aspects of this it boils down to personal preference.

As far as getting used to it, it didn't take me long at all. When sitting around at home obviously it's not an issue carrying. I don't have the problem of smoking something of that size personally. I still do get a mental craving for the real deal every once in awhile, that's why I still keep regular cigs around. Example, I still like to have my morning cigarette, have had difficulty giving that one up. No biggie though, I think I'm moving in the right direction. While I want this to fully replace smoking soon I don't have a problem going the hybrid route for now.

When out and about...it's a little tricky. You can't really keep them in your back pocket or whatever cause you can bend/break the tank. It was no problem in winter (inside coat pocket), but we'll see about summertime. I don't go to bars or anything anymore so I usually will just keep it in my car and take my cigs if I'm going somewhere out. If I'm going to a friend's house to hang out, again just keeping it sit on the coffee table or whatever is obviously no biggie.

Long-winded story short; I think you'd get used to it pretty quickly, and the carrying is not that big of an issue. Plus there are always real cigs when you feel more comfortable going that route. But if you can cut out even a portion of the real cigarette smoking you do I feel like that is a victory.

Oh and I think Blu's are OK too, but my three main issues with them: they are disposable so you don't tend to really save all that much money, you can't customize your base and nicotine levels, and they are lacking on the flavor side of it. At first I didn't think I'd like any flavors at all but it's kind of nice to switch around from time to time. Like I said my new thing is mixing a little coffee flavor in there. But I have tried orange, vanilla, and a few others. I always cut the flavor about half and half with regular liquid or it's a bit much...

I hate the smell of smoke and would never smoke (my parents did while growing up).

Are these considered "not as bad" for you or are they 100% healthy?

Yeah, I'm not a Flavor guy when it comes to smoking. so that wouldn't bother me at all.

probably will take a shot after the Summer
