I consider myself spiritual rather than religious. In fact I am not religious at all. But your post threw me off. What exactly are the Sioux Indian tribes spiritual beliefs ? I could Google it.. but it's your question... perhaps there is a part of their beliefs you are focusing on? Which one?

I would rather wait for more replies. The Black Hills are very important to the Sioux, just a very different way of viewing things compared to...

What do you mean? Of course it non-sense...Christians will point and laugh at how ridiculous their beliefs are when a large part of the world views them in exactly the same light. In a thousand years both will be relegated to history books anyhow. The only difference is one is basically extinct now and the other is dying a slow death.

Doesn't matter. Whatever makes you feel at peace with yourself as long it's not at someone else's expense, I'm all for it. I have no idea why people feel the need to push something so sacred on total strangers but whatever. No one knows the real truth, it's just faith. Live and let live, brah (channeling murph).

My point is, it seems that either a person believes in God and Christianity OR they don't. My question is where does the third party come in, I used the Lakota or Sioux Indian as my example. The Sioux believed in Wanka Tanka "all that is holy and mysterious". I read that as a spiritual people that understood that they didn't understand everything. Ultimately it each individuals right to chose what they believe in I think it's ridiculous for an individual to state that there beliefs are superior to someone else's. A little out of the box, I guess.

I agree with them. You can feel "spirituality" everywhere. To me those who join organized religion have no true spirituality inside of them.

No one really knows anything. You can have faith and that's a beautiful thing. But at the end of the day, no one knows anything. My ultimate goal is to give more than I take.

A very cool side note. The Black Hills in South Dakota have been referred to as the heart of all there is by Lakota elders for generations. Years later a satellite image of the Black Hills or 'Paha Sapa' has the exact same shape as a human heart. Maybe the Lakota where on to something?

I personally cant stand 'extremes' or extremists on all ends. Truth prolly lies somewhere in the middle.

Seems like everyone is picking an extreme side these days, esp. on the political side of the left and 'new agey' people...but see it from the Christian 'right' as well

Dummies and bigots and non-objective thinkers everywhere...I like people that are conservative and liberal..of different spiritual and religious beliefs, etc.. but who see the nuance in things and can question their own beliefs. Hard to find these days

The Lakota Sioux and many indigenous peoples in America believe in a Great Spirit. They also had a high regard for nature and worshipped the creator of nature. Jesus is the Christian equivalent of the Creator. I believe they both worship the same entity with different names much the same way Muslims worship Allah and Jews and Christians worship God.
