JONESBORO, Ga. — Mookie Blaylock, a former NBA All-Star, is on life support following a car accident Friday afternoon.
Blaylock was driving in Jonesboro on Friday when he crashed. He was airlifted to the Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition, Clayton County police spokesman Clarence Cox says.
Cox says the man and woman riding in the van were also taken to the medical center. The female passenger from the other vehicle was bleeding internally and is in critical condition, according to the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Blaylock, who played seven seasons for the Atlanta Hawks, was driving on Tara Boulevard, when his Cadillac Escalade went over the median and struck another car, according to the Journal-Constitution.
Blaylock was an All-Star in 1994 with the Atlanta Hawks, who he played seven seasons for. He began his career as the No. 12 overall pick out of Oklahoma in the 1989 NBA draft for the New Jersey Nets, whom he played three seasons for. Blaylock retired with the Golden State Warriors, whom he also played three years for, after 13 NBA seasons. He averaged 13.5 points, 6.7 assists and 2.3 steals over 889 games.
