Ironically last year was one of the quietest tornado seasons in Oklahoma history and the lowest fatality count since records have been kept. It's all cyclical, so sadly the bill has come due this spring. I will say one thing that I've noticed with this year's Oklahoma tornadoes and the ones in modern times is they have stayed on the ground a hell of a lot longer than I remember as a kid. They were more a hit and miss back then as opposed to almost hurricane-like tornadoes that covers a lot of real estate. The only tornado in history that can compete with these Oklahoma F5 tornadoes of the past 15 years is the tri-state monster that hit in 1925. That tornado traveled at 73 MPH starting in Missouri killing 11, then went through Illinois killing 613. Then on to Indiana where it killed 17 more. Very brutal. It stayed on the ground uninterrupted for 219 miles. And the scary part is no Doppler radar or tornado warnings back then. If they had the urban sprawl in 1925 than they do now, there probably would have been many more killed.

I won't be praying - I will be donating to the Red Cross though...coming from someone who cleaned up after the storms in Alabama a couple years back, these people need all the REAL help they can get. Who was it that said "One pair of hands at work accomplishes more than a thousand clasped in prayer".

Can we save the religious beliefs for another thread?

You guys remind me of the time I went to my very religious cousins wedding.
The preacher spent an hour preaching a sermon and had an alter call at a wedding.
They almost forgot to say "I DO".

This thread is about a tornadoes.

Three of the people killed the other night were Tim Samaras and his son Paul, along with Carl Young. These were 3 of the most famous storm chasers in the country. I used to watch them regularly on the Discovery Channel. The sad part is Tim Samaras was a brilliant man, and he was always the most cautious of the 3 in not wanting them to take any chances to driving further into the storm. The problem is this latest tornado was probably the most unpredictable in it's movements than any tornado caught on tape. Everybody was literally caught with their pants down when the tornado stopped taking the usual north/northeast route that tornadoes do, and headed due south. With all of the storm chasers and traffic in that area, they had no place to go. Really a shame. I think the weather people learned a lot of new things from these two latest Oklahoma storms. http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/02/us/midwest-weather/index.html
