Just bought a ticket on Stubhub for Monday for $44.45 total charge. Face value is $50 but USGA tacks on a $9 service charge even though you have to pick up at will call. I'm sure I could get a ticket in the shuttle area cheaper but I don't want the hassle. I'm taking the train from center city Philadelphia out to Ardmore, Pa. I don't like the fact that they won't let you bring your cellphone to the practice rounds. All they should require is no use of phone on the grounds and the ringer must be turned off. A violation of those rules would result of ejection off the grounds. They allow cameras but no cellphone cameras until the tournament starts. It's a real inconvenience to be forced to leave my phone at home. I don't think you can even it check it at the course. With all that it's going to be fun to walk the course that Bobby Jones won the Grand Slam on 83 years ago.

Cool man, have fun. I would imagine you can bring your phone in, just be smart about it and don't take pictures or pull it out. Put it on silent and check it however often you need to. I was at Colonial a couple weeks ago and you are allowed to have your phone there. I did not see any idy getting the pat down or anything like that so id imagine you could walk right through the gates with it. Then again Colonial is in Texas and Merion is in Northeast so who knows, you may be walking through metal detectors there

I have a feeling security is like Augusta. If you bring a phone in they stop you at the gate. They are using metal detectors.

If that's the case, I'd leave the phone at the house. Who cares though? Your at the us open. Leave the phone in the truck and drink some beer and have fun.
