My favorite team (Ole Miss Rebels) scheduled a series against Texas in football.

Part of the draw for scheduling a "name" non-conference opponent is the exposure the game creates for your school/football team.

However, Texas has decided to broadcast the game on their Longhorn Network, which has little exposure at all in comparison to the major channels.

Seriously doubt Ole Miss will ever schedule a series again with Texas and I'm guessing other schools will take note of this as well.

Glad that Texas A&M is leaving them in the dust.

You can thank ESPN for that. They have a deal with the SEC and own the Longhorn Network. Obviously TLN isn't making money, so throw a 'name' school on there to boost demand.

I don't think espn had a say in this. Because it is a non-conference home game for Texas, they control the media rights. Putting it on the Longhorn Network is certainly within their rights. I just think it might cause other teams to hesitate in scheduling them because most teams would rather play on channels that reach 100 million households as opposed to probably 10% of that number.

Where $ is, teams follow. ND and Texas are no different than any other program. For some reason (well, very specific reasons), certain people want to call it something else though.

Outside of the fanbase, those programs are just another team. ND had no business in the NC game last year and it showed. The lack of talent compared to other places in the country is shown on the field. I have no idea what has happened to Texas. I guess Mack Brown.

Lack of talent showed on the field in an unbeaten regular season against a schedule that pre season pundits were calling brutal (reality was a little kinder but not much). As for Texas, they consistently recruit a billion supposed studs each year but continue to underperform which does suggest the coaching staff isn't developing these kids properly (a novel idea). We all know Mack Brown better have been working on his 401K recently.

Personally I feel these two programs are heading in different directions, ND have stability whilst Texas is likely to face significant upheaval. The arrogance will always be there, even if it's not always justified.

Should've added: "No value in scheduling games against Univ of Texas" - Aggies certainly agree...

I hope they keep Mack Brown there forever.
