NEW YORK (AP) - McDonald's is taking a small step toward offering breakfast items outside of its usual breakfast hours - at least if you're a night owl.

Starting this month, the fast-food chain says participating 24-hour restaurants in select locations will offer an "After Midnight" menu that includes its Egg McMuffin, Big Mac and Chicken McNuggets. Customers will be able to create "Midnight Value Meals," with either fries or hash browns as their side items, McDonald's says.

A mockup of the menu provided by the company showed an Egg McMuffin paired with French fries, next to the heading, "Dinner or Breakfast? Yes"

The rollout of the menu, which is available from midnight to 4 a.m., builds on a "Breakfast After Midnight" menu the company has been testing. McDonald's notes that franchisees may adapt their offerings based on local preferences.
McDonald's CEO Don Thompson had said in a CNBC interview earlier this year that the company was open to expanding its breakfast hours. Fans of McDonald's breakfast have long wanted the chain to make its Egg McMuffins and biscuits available later in the day. But a hurdle for the company is that operations behind the counter would get too complicated, with workers having to juggle such a wide array of items in a limited space.

Still, Thompson noted at an analyst conference last week that the company is looking to improve its performance by expanding hours and noted that breakfast is a "growing category.

The "After Midnight" menu is already available in northern Delaware and College Station, Texas, according to McDonald's. A spokeswoman did not immediately know how many of its more than 14,000 U.S. restaurants would offer the menu.

McDonald's says nearly half of its restaurants are open 24 hours.

I like this idea

might be better than stopping in a Diner after a night at the Bar. Just drive up and order a Egg sandwich and hash browns

yeah, this should be a "Home Run"

I mean it does take away the Diner hang out with friends after a night of drinking. But think it's a good Idea to just grab something to eat while you are driving home... or take it Home to eat.

A Longggggg time ago, there was a Bar ( Large place... college hang out with Bands ) that I hung out at. and there was this tiny Shack that would open at 1AM ( I'm talking like maybe a 15'x15' stand alone place )
and the guy use to make Egg sandwiches, sell Coffee... That guy use to make a ton of $$$ between the hours of 1am and 4am
think he was only open until 11am because he was right under a Long Island Railroad stop and would get the people going to work on week days.

(NaturalNews) Today we announce the first investigation conducted at the Natural News Forensic Food Laboratory, the new science-based research branch of Natural News where we put foods under the microscope and find out what's really there.

Earlier today I purchased a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets from a McDonald's restaurant in Austin, Texas. Under carefully controlled conditions, I then examined the Chicken McNuggets under a high-powered digital microscope, expecting to see only processed chicken bits and a fried outer coating.

But what I found instead shocked even me. I've seen a lot of weird stuff in my decade of investigating foods and nutrition, but I never expected to find this...

[h=1]Strange fibers found embedded inside Chicken McNuggets[/h]As the following photos show, the Chicken McNuggets were found to contain strange fibers that some people might say even resemble so-called "Morgellon's."

We found dark black hair-like structures sticking out of the nugget mass, as well as light blue egg-shaped structures with attached tail-like hairs or fibers.

These are shown in extreme detail in the photos below, taken on August 15, 2013 at the Natural News Forensic Food Lab. The actual Chicken McNugget samples used in these photos have been frozen for storage of forensic evidence.

We also found odd red coloring splotches in several locations, as well as a spherical green object that resembles algae.

We are not claiming or implying that these objects in any way make McDonald's Chicken McNuggets unsafe to consume. We do, however, believe that this visual evidence may warrant an FDA investigation into the ingredient composition of Chicken McNuggets.

In particular, where are the hair-like structures coming from? This is especially important to answer, given that chickens do not have hair. Is there cross-species contamination in the processing of Chicken McNuggets? This question needs to be answered.
