Funny/tragic part is when he gives away $50 worth of food for Chris Angel tickets and then sells them for $40. Cheese and rice.

I thought you were talking about those Diner Mystery Train rides.. what is this tv show about?

Edit -

About the Show

When a restaurant owner suspects employees of not doing their jobs — whether it be stealing, lying, mistreating customers or generally doing lousy work — they call in the Mystery Diners. These Mystery Diners are undercover operatives who go into restaurants, bars and food service establishments with hidden cameras to perform surveillance to find out what's really going on when the boss isn't around.

It's similar to Restaurant Stakeout. Restaurant owners are concerned about their business (staff, theft, etc) and they call this guy, and this guy is an expert in sending in "mystery diners" to get to the bottom of the situation.

Great show, I love shows like this that really display what goes on in this industry...it's really pretty astounding.

Obv these mystery diners are miked up and have hidden cameras, etc...and they get sent in to try to expose the problem of interest. Example if theft is the suspected problem the mystery diners try to wheel and deal the employees for free shit, etc etc

pretty good show --- would think that one day the producers of the show may be sued for infringing on somebodys rights though.
you know how upside down this country is.

I loved the one in vegas where the night bartender ran his own bar in the wee hours, he changed the prices, sold his own shit and let the customers cook their own food in the kitchen and even had his own bouncer. he'd tell the owner it was slow to explain the lack of sales.

The show is just another fake reality show. Just one of the many blogs when you google Mystery Diner that is 100% fake.

Mystery Diner. 100% faked, i'll tell you why.

While watching the german restaurant ep, I was pretty suspicious, for some of the reasons other people have mentioned:

1. "Hey, let's go to that bar we always go to after work!" What, you don't know what it's called? ...or maybe you can't say because you're not allowed because you're an actor.

2. Horrible acting (which you expect from the owners because they KNOW they're on camera) but the people (waitresses, manager, etc) who supposedly didn't know were very not good.

...but here's what really stuck out to me.

I worked for an Anheuser-Busch beer distributorship for 8 years. You want to take a guess at one thing I NEVER heard any of our salesmen or delivery guys refer to themselves as?

"I'm the new supply guy."

Really? No. I'm sorry. I could have bought "I'm the new beer guy," or "I'm the new [distributor company name] guy," or EVEN "I'm the new [beer brewery or brand name] guy."

If this was a REAL show, they would have said "I'm the new beer guy from BEEEEEEEEP distributing."

As soon as the mystery diner said that and Gunnar the "manager" didn't even blink an eye, I was out.

You need to understand that suppliers, be it a beer distributor or food distributor, create relationships with the managers and owners of their customers. I used to go on sales calls with our salesmen and they knew every manager by name and every manager knew who they were, what they sold and who they worked for. There's just no way any manager would accept "supply guy" without a question or a "what the f**k does that mean?"

This was a 100% scripted show with actors all around. Not that great of one, either.

You just copy/pasted that off the internet. I just did a search on this show and found that as one of the results.

However, I hate these shitty reality shows.

Yes, I know I got this off the Internet I stated that at the beginning I did a google search.

Anyhow, TruTV is loaded with fake reality shows like this one. I like to tune in occasionally just so I can laugh at how bad the acting and scripted scenes are.

Yea, they are entertaining. But are completely and obviously fake. Bar Rescue is my fav., but oh so completely scripted. In all those, they always have one employee who throws a hissy fit and quits, then comes back the next day for the drama element to the "show".
