In undergrad once I sold back all my textbooks during like the 2nd week of class to get buy-in for a big poker game.

I won but never bought the books back and did fine in the courses anyway. :)

haha that's awesome.

Those books were always basically pointless, you made the wise decision I think.

Addendum to the story, I used the winnings to buy a bong I still own to this day and a keg-o-rator that I left with the house in which I lived at the time.

I have bet on WNBA, Euroleague basketball, random international soccer matches. But I assume most of us have done that.

The most degenerate thing i've ever done was probably 5 years ago I had won $3000 over the course of the nba playoffs after going on a great run and lost every penny of it in 10 minutes of online roulette.

Several years back I had a 5k line of credit with a local. I was about even (+/- 100ish) at the time and got really drunk and called in my entire limit on the Cubs when they were in the playoffs. They lost to the Dodgers. I put a hole in the closet door in my hallway during that game that I couldn't even afford to repair for like a month cause I had to pay the man. D'oh.

Early in my online poker days I was playing at Paradise Poker. This is before they even had no-limit, everything was limit (which is why fixed limit ring games are still my forte).

Anyway I was still in college, and I ran up a $50 deposit up to like 1200 grinding 50c/1 limit for several weeks. I cashed it out and went out with my buddies to celebrate after a particularly good night. Of course I bought all drinks cause I had a big fat check coming.

Got home from the bar and discovered that you could in fact reverse your w/d request, which I did. I sat down at a 10/20 table which was WAY out of my league. I remember I was just bluffing like a madman and had the thing run up to 5k. I vividly remember jumping up and down on our bed to wake my gf up with the good news. I cashed out and went to bed.

I woke up about an hour later and reversed the w/d again and sat back down at 10/20 and lost it all, plus another $500 deposit on top of it, in about 2 hours. That was not a pleasant conversation I had to have with my gf the next morning.

Sat down at the Sahara Black Jack table about twenty years ago, drunk out of my mind, and proceeded to lose a like 10 hands in a row at the 50 dollar table,( I used to get very defiant when i was younger) Then I doubled my bet, and lost like another 8 hands in a row. I think i dropped like 2k in about an hour.
Second time I was down about 1500 going into the Sunday 4 Oclock games and once again drunk and defiant, doubled up on San Fran, Vs New Orleans, Thankfully for me I think Steve Young ran it in at the end of the game to cover..........Never chased after that game again.............

I built up a $250 deposit into 8k betting MLB and playing online crackjack. Took me about 2 weeks of manic obsessive sessions to accomplish that. I took out a few k during the run thankfully... but ... at some point I started losing to crackjack. It was at a rate that was astounding. Winning 4 hands in 50 and pushing or losing the rest.. Those were the kinds of sessions I started logging as the money disappeared. I was able to predict under cards at some point it was so bad. Dealer shows a 6 against my 16? Ace under without a doubt. But because I was able to build my bankroll with crackjack... I couldn't stop. I kept telling myself the losing had to stop. If it didn't stop at that rate of losing... then it was straight out stealing from me. And they would never be so bold to steal from me at that insane rate. But I was wrong. The losing never stopped. F'ing thieves

Got a $25000 interest free loan from AMEX on the green card. Setup a dummy corporation, got a credit card machine. Charged $25Gs. Took the money to vegas. Didn't pay AMEX back in full. Settled with the at $.50 on the dollar. Won $10K in vegas, used the $20K+ to pay tuition for the next 2 years.
