Well, that day has finally arrived. According to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays have purchased his contract and he will most likely get every day time.
“Rays recall Wil Myers, who will join team in Boston. Roberts optioned,” Smith tweets.
The 22-year old Myers has a 283/.354/.514 batting line in Triple-A with 14 home runs and 57 RBI in 63 games. Tampa Bay is 2nd-to-last place in the AL East, but they are still only five games back, so their season isn’t over.
