What, if any, do you think were the best team(s) NOT to win the championship? Whether they didn't win because of injuries or just didn't show up to play their best or because of officiating?

My number one pick, without a doubt, would be the 2002 Sacramento Kings. Had it not been for all the ridiculous calls they would have beat the Lakers (had a better starting 5, better bench, just a better team) and would have defiantly beat the Nets.

It makes me sick just thinking of that series.

Why? they choked in game 7 at home about as bad as any team I can remember (Peja airballing a 3, Christie with some terrible misses)

Answer is easily the '07 Patriots I think

Easy for me.

2001 116 win Seattle Mariners. Rookie of the Year, MVP and an unreal season until the Yanks ended it all.

Game 6 of that Lakers/Kings series was the most blatant case of rigged officiating I've ever seen. I never thought games were rigged until I saw that game.

Complete bullshit. Sacramento was the better team, and the refs gave the game to the Lakers.

They still had game 7 at home and lost in OT on their homecourt. If you are the better team, probably gonna win game 7 at home when you had the best HCA in the league at the time.....Not to mention they blew a 20pt lead in that series the Horry game, can't really do that. Even with the game 6 officiating absurdity, they totally blew that series. Their chokejob in game 7 was almost painful to watch, guys were clearly tightening up....Peja 1 of the best shooters ever and he airballs a 3? That was surreal...I think Christie even admitted afterwards guys were nervous

Tough to say the wrong team won that

I do think Sacto is 1 of the best but they still screwed themselves blowing game 7 at home. I'd say the '93 Suns with Barkley in his MVP year is the other NBA team that stands out to me

Braves sucked in the 80's.

I think the UNLV team that lost to DUKE is a contender.

The 1988 Oklahoma Sooners basketball team. They were by far the best team in the country during the season and through March Madness. Then they had to play Danny & the Miracles for the National Championship in Kansas City of all places. A team that they easily defeated twice during the season. Kansas made it through about the easiest bracket they could ask for, and then they caught fire in that championship game, and OU didn't have their best stuff that night. If these two teams played each other, OU would have won 8 out of 10 times that season. They just happen to catch Kansas on a very hot night of shooting. Danny Manning was unbelievable in that game. That loss still hurts just as much as the Game Of The Century loss to Nebraska in '71.

Temple and Arizona had better records going into the tourney and were the overall top seeds no?
