After dropping two games to the New York Mets yesterday, the Atlanta Braves now will try and prevent the first home series loss of the 2013 MLB season tonight as the Mets and Braves square off in game four of this five game series. Atlanta now has 645 K's on the season with 24 K's in yesterday's double header with Dan Uggla and BJ Upton tops in the National League in the K category. Medlen 3-7 3.09 ERA has never lost to the Mets posting a career 1.92 ERA in this matchup. Medlen had a season high 9 K's in this matchup back in May of this year but has suffered from lack of run support this year receiving no runs four times in seven starts. Medlen will have to make David Wright and Marlon Byrd priority outs tonight as this duo are .452 last eight games and 5 for 8 yesterday respectively. Marcum is 0-8 5.43 ERA with only 47 K's in 55 Innings Pitched this year but did have a career high 12 K's in this matchup last time out in the May series. Marcum is 1-1 2.87 ERA in five career starts vs. Atlanta and similar to Medlen has failed to receive run support with only 12 runs in eight games. Atlanta has a gut check tonight trying to prevent a home series loss but success can only be achieved if Braves drastically reduce the K's and plate runs in support of Medlen.
