Kobe Bryant lists his five greatest NBA players of all-time

Larry Bird is money in Kobe Bryant’s book.

When asked to name the five greatest NBA players of all-time, Bryant didn’t miss a beat.

“It’s not very difficult for me,” Bryant said. “I’d go Magic, Jordan, Bird, Russell and Jabbar.”

Bryant singled out Larry Bird on his list when talking with ESPN Radio in Los Angeles, reminding everyone how spectacular the Celtic great was.

“I will say as the years go on people really forget how great Larry Bird was,” Bryant said. “He was ridiculous. And I grew up in LA — just like everyone else here — hating his guts. Dude — the guy was just money.”

Bryant went on to discuss his rehab, and also how he stayed sane post-op.

“We were on Modern Family hard,” Bryant said. “I’ve watched every episode of Modern Family.”

He's right on the money with those five. I would probably make Doctor J my sixth man.

I honestly believe Jabbar somehow over the years has become highly underrated.
I can make a case for him being as high as the 3rd best player of all time.

People forget how good Bird was. Lethal shooter, scorer, and phenomenal passer. His prime of 84-87 some of the best years league has seen.

Beat me to it. The Big O nearly averaged a triple-double throughout his career. Points/game: 25.7, Assists/game: 9.5, Rebounds/game: 7.5.

teams averaged over 115 points a game back then.. sometimes over 120.. put kobe on those teams and he does the same thing. every posession ran thru oscar . he always had the ball.

Agreed that the teams scored more during those days but the fact that every play went through Big O and he still wasn't stopped says a lot about how good he was. His APG also shows how he was able to feed his teammates and Kobe, Jordan or Kareen don't have numbers anywhere near Big O's assist numbers.
