I was looking for a domain name and saw on godaddy that it was a premium name available for $799.99......HOLY FUCK

does this mean someone owns it but is willing to sell it?

is there any way i can negotiate?

Been going through the same thing. Don't think premium names can be bought for less.

at least yours is 799... I was looking at 2, one was $1399, and the other $1899

i'm really torn about it. at this point, if i could talk to the owner, i'd give him $500 for it

are you sure they aren't just brokers

i.e. they don't own the domains, they just sell them.

for example....godaddy was also offering the same domain for sale.. I assume it is an individual who put it up for sale on both websites

interesting....that means no negotiations

Not sure. Plan on calling them on Monday to see.

I have never paid over $700 for a Domain name, but I really want this one. So I will give it a shot.. maybe offer $1000
they probably won't accept it, but maybe they come back and counteroffer ??

When you go to any of the auctions , you can sometimes make an offer. But not sure what they have in mind.
I'll let you know what the deal is

Man, not trying to get in your business but what do you do for a living? You have cool shit (summer home, a Bentley, make $500 6 team parlays etc).......just curious, it won't hurt my feelings if you tell me to fuck off either

It means its a domain that is not being used but someone scooped it up years ago anticipating that some one like you would want it someday.
Chances are very slim they will go down on the price.
Domain names are going up in value, not down.
$800 is fairly reasonable for a catchy domain name these days.

If you want some interesting reading there are people who made millions in the 90's buying domain names of major companies like Coke, Ford, McDonald's etc....

They bought these names about 5 years before the tech boom knowing that these companies would one day want those URL's.

They bought them for pennies and sold them for millions.

Could you imagine buying IBM.com for $10?

Thats what happened.

LOL, well I do have a Winter Home... no Bentley... and have been known to play that type of parlay, many times.

anyway... some here know what I Use to do.. That a side, My Wife owns her own business. But it is 3 businesses into one, and I run the other 2/3. Plus don't forget my Mod Job here at the RX :)

as far as Domain names. I have been buying and selling them for over 11 years
there use to be good money in them... but so many buy now

Funny story was from years ago... I was doing a search of Domains and found a name that should have been worth thousands !!
it was mine for the taken... and said to myself... This is the Big one. so I bought it... waited the 60 days that you need to wait before you can transfer and then Sell.
On the 61th day, I sign into my account and was getting ready to throw it up in an auction... and then I figured it out
I had Misspelled the word !

I remembered that I checked it like 100 Times before I bought it. Then even thinking that GoDaddy pulled a Fast one...
But went back to the email confirmation .... and there it was.. Fuking misspelled !! ##)

That was the First and Hope the Last time that happens

I could see $800 being the norm for a 1 or 2 word Domain, But don't think I will go $1900

800 is reasonable.

I imagine therx.com could be sold for at least 50K if not more.

a lot more

most appraisal sites will base it on the Traffic that it's getting now. How many medical prescription Companies would Love to grab that name for their own ? Plenty

No doubt. If I owned this place I would have sold the name a long time ago. I think this place could survive with a new name.
I believe therx also still owns theprescription.com. That name is also valuable.

At the very least I would sell theprescription.com because 95% of the posters don't associate that name with this place anyway

Despite his faults shrink was a smart guy in a lot of ways. He probably bought those names for next to nothing in 1994.

lol, funny because cronuts are the Hottest item around here in NY.... you can get like $50 each on the Blackmarket

Anyway... When you use a City or State name in a Domain, you only leave your customers thinking That's the ONLY area you are dealing with. So is it worth $800 ?? You need to ask yourself, Is that "Market" or "geographic " area worth it ?

well, that is what i'm looking at which renders my domain useless to anyone outside of hawaii.

but honestly, there aren't many businesses that can successfully be run from hawaii and sell stuff to the 48 continental states......shipping puts me at a disadvantage from the start.

so the question again is, does it make it worth $800

(I used cronut because it is a new thing that may catch on and still have domains even though i'm sure www.cronut.com is not available)

So I gather that you want to use haiwan or hawaii in your Domain name. So it's probably a product of some kind that comes from there.

So if the above is true, and people will normally search for said product from Hawaii ... then Yes it's worth $800

Use this.... https://adwords.google.com/o/Target...&__u=1000000000&ideaRequestType=KEYWORD_IDEAS

see how your words in the Domain that you are looking for comes up, it will give you how many times it has been searched.

make sure you pick the right Category, otherwise you will get bad results
