Lets say it is an guy you play with on credit on the forums. In the credit business the worry is usually if the player is going to pay but what do you do when the bookie doesn't pay. When you call he doesn't answer, when you text you end up sending one a day and getting a response once every three days promising payments and never seeing it come through.

How long do you give him for "problems". and what do you do when you decide the money isn't coming? Let it go? Stalk them? out them to family? forums? Facebook?

These turn key pph shops make it so simple for any dumb ass to set up shop these days. You could literally have 0 dollars to your name and you could still set up shop in less then 24 hours. This kind of thing is only going to get worse.

This is true.....think of your dumbest, most broke friend...

He could start a PPH in 10 mins. While long-term you get that 5% in your sleep, short-term there is tons of variance (Balancing action is a total myth) so your gonna get killed here and there as a bookie and most don't have the roll to survive that.

sorry been out all day. besides people just wanting to know a name...no one really gave any advice. I didn't even say I did get stiffed. I think i just said bookie giving the run-around.

what are the options here? just mark it off as a loss?

I don't want this to be the point of emphasis but what if you also have friends that play with your bookie. do you have to pay their winnings out to them as well?

fwiw, you guys gotta be kidding if you think i'm playing with some random dude with $0 to their name

If he's a forum guy and he gives a shit, tell him to come to you with a plan that starts with some $ tomorrow or you're going to post the story. If he doesn't do it then post it. If he strays from the agreement one time even slightly then post it. If he straightens everything out post that too. If he doesn't pay you yeah its just a loss. If you told your buddies that you would vouch for the guy then yeah you owe them their balances too. I hope you did not do anything that stupid without getting a piece of the profit. If you just set them up you owe them your efforts on doing everything you possibly can to get their money which is pretty much what i just said above. If you have not already warned your buddies of the situation then you are late on that. I'd do that ASAP. You never know one of them may be big time loser with the guy. Wouldn't that suck if you found out one of them just paid him a big figure and you had not been in touch?

If this guy is in the same town as you and/or its a big figure then you have some better options I think.

Why not out him so no one else gets burned

good point but i'm looking out for me first (i'm just being honest). I don't want to do something that will piss him off. not at this time.

If there is no chance I get the money 100% then yes, i might as well protect the rest of you.

I'm getting the sense he's not sure he's being stiffed yet or just slow paid. I would handle this situation with care as well if I were him...

exactly...it is a significant amount to me ($4,000 is pennies to BAS, but it is a lot to poor ol' shdw).

solid reputable guy ...well known.....i don't want to ruin him over a possible "slow pay"

right or wrong i'm not going to out the person unless that is my final option. Everyone is busy in their life so I understand if a payment comes late for a reason or another. I have had times where i was sending money and i wasn't able to do it for one reason or another. The point of the thread isn't "guess who stiffed me".....i didn't use the word stiff....everyone else did.

fwiw i have three (kind of four) outs on credit. so i have other places to play but this was my main one and not having the out as well as my funds has really been bothering me big time the last few weeks.
