The Atlanta Braves rely on the Home Run for success, but presently not many balls have left the park as evident by a three game losing skid with the Braves losing five of six overall. Atlanta has only homered in four of last twelve games but still are among MLB's best with 93 HR's on the season. Atlanta is 39-9 in games where the Braves have hit at least one HR and only 4-24 in games with no HR's. The Braves have only scored 28 runs through a 4-8 stretch and will look today to avoid a sweep by Milwaukee, three straight shut out's, and the ninth consecutive loss at Miller Park. Maholm is 7-6 3.57 ERA and looking to avoid a six game losing streak. Maholm is 3-11 5.12 ERA in 22 career starts vs. Milwaukee posting a 6.34 ERA losing six of last seven starts in this matchup. Figaro is 1-1 3.88 ERA and has allowed 5 HR's in four starts in 22 Innings Pitched yielding an average of 1.5 HR's per nine innings. Atlanta hopes to find success vs. Figaro today with Figaro's tendency to give up HR's. Gomez is 8 for 18 vs. Maholm with a .722 slugging percentage so Maholm must make Gomez a priority out. After being swept last week on the road at San Diego, Atlanta really under the gun today to get a quality road win to prevent yet another road sweep. Milwaukee has played very solid defense in this series and the Brewers are not going to beat themselves with sloppy play in the field. One of Atlanta's goals today will be getting back into a Home Run groove to give a much need boost to an already struggling offense.
