Michigan's Tim Hardaway Jr. picked by New York Knicks in first round of NBA draft

Tim Hardaway Jr. was picked by the New York Knicks — his father’s archrival team when Hardaway Sr. was with the Miami Heat — with the No. 24 pick of the NBA draft tonight in Brooklyn.
That gave U-M two first-round picks for the first time since 1994. Trey Burke was picked ninth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then traded to the Utah Jazz.
Hardaway may feel comfortable, having played two of the best games of his season at Madison Square Garden, winning the MVP of the NIT Season Tip-Off in November. The Knicks fans were excited, roaring at the pick, with the draft being so close to Manhattan.
Coming to a playoff team, Hardaway could see significant minutes.
The Knicks are devoid of shooting guards as only Iman Shumpert is on the roster, recovering from a major injury, and last year’s primary shooting guard J.R. Smith is an unrestricted free agent.
