This past week while driving through New York I was given a ticket for using an electronic device. I was just looking down at my Iphone for directions while stopped in traffic. I wasn't talking on the phone or texting just looking down at it. Does this applied to IPads too.

Every state which has such a similar law is different I believe.

I know in Florida it's just texting and pretty sure a driver can only by cited for texting if they are stopped for a separate, original violation and not stopped solely for texting.

I would be surprised if New York's law states that you can't use your phone at all, such as the navigation...

I am pretty sure you wouldnt be able to use an ipad while driving.. that is extremely more dangerous than a phone even

a reasonable police officer would've let you go on that one (imho).

i leave mine down in the cupholder with the gps on, but there have been times when it's in my hand or lap, in wisconsin you're fine but not new york according to that table
