Yes he does, for sure. It's the matchup I've been wanting, so hoping for an exciting fight. Go Weidman!!!

I gotta go with the dude that hasn't lost in 7 years at -220, best of all time.

Same with Floyd vs Canelo....two best in each fighting discipline both lowest odds they've been in awhile (although Silva was only -220ish vs Vitor after he struggled with Chael, we saw how that went)

Weidman does have a legit shot , but Anderson Silva might be too Legit to quit just yet ... Weidman is undefeated yes , but his best level of competition at this point is Mark Munoz and Damien Maia ( his two biggest wins ) and they are borderline top 10 guys ... Maia has been up there but never got over the hump, and Munoz was supposed to be ok until Weidman went thru him like swiss cheese. Obvioulsy if Weidman follows Sonnens game plan, take him and down, keep him down, and ground and pound while hes down, he might be able to pull off the upset, But Silva fires such accurate shots , it will be interesting to see how it goes down, I always used to bet against Silva over they years, always at a good price, but never once cashed a ticket ...( murphies law, I wont bet this one, and he loses ...) Should be a good fight, and overall a GREAT card !!

I think Weidman has exactly the tool set to beat Silva. He has fantastic wrestling and good hands, but he as stated above has never faced anyone like Silva or even close to them.

If he can stay close I think he's the stronger of the 2 and could grind out a decision.

I'm torn on who I hopes wins. I want to see Silva win and fight Jones in his prime but with his age and his legacy I don't know that will ever happen. And if Weidman can't beat him, I don't see anyone else who could come close either...

weidman's wrestling grossly overrated due to level of competition. two big things going against him here...1) he's being rushed into a title bout, 2) long layoff as he hasn't fought in a year. Not a very good preparation to fight Silva. His only shot is to take down Silva early in each round and then ride it out but you're talking about a guy with tremendous take down defense (70%+). But Weidman much younger and if he does take down Silva repeatedly then he's definitely got a shot. Big "if" but that's his chance...take downs and a decision

should be fun unless it turns into a jon fitch-like fight with weidman taking him down then just holding on until the bell each round

but, yeah, weidman has a shot. when you get to silva's age it doesn't matter how great you are...you can be beat.

only negative with a silva win is they will promote the hell out of jones/silva but at this point in their careers there is only one way the fight would end. Now give me a 30 yr old Silva vs a 30 yr old Jones and that would be a different story

boetsch/munoz a real good one in that division too

As Sonnen foundout, much harder to lay and pray for 5 rds than 3. I just don't think Wiedman can go 5 rds without being hit if Silva is in shape and motivated. Only takes 1 mistake vs Silva...

That is my exact thought on this one as well.

Weidman's game is dependent on taking silva down, avoiding subs and holding for 25 minutes. Anderson can finish on the feet at any time and every round starts on the feet. Although Chris has improved stand-up, the spider has the best striking in the game. Unless silva has lost significant speed since his last outing, I just don't see Chris winning here. I say silva wins by tko round 2 or 3.

And based on my last ufc picks, everyone should load up on weidman...haha.

It's no secret that I have been a huge fan of Weidman for quite some time. I've wanted this matchup since Weidman was brought to the UFC. With that being said, I wish he would've fought in December before being able to take this fight. More rounds in the Octagon would've been highly beneficial, and now he's coming off an injury to boot. With all that said, he could be a matchup nightmare if there ever is one for Silva. I haven't kept up with Silva's training camp for this one(I would assume he's ready considering Munoz is fighting on this card as well), but I have kept up with Weidman's as it hit close to home. Ending last week, he brought in Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson (my former kickboxing trainer) for a week and a half to train with a world class striker that brings it from every angle. The Wonderboy may be new to the UFC, and lack some wrestling and ground game (can't hurt to train with Weidman on this), but he is by far an elite striker as the UFC will ever see. Weidman wants to concentrate on catching Silva when he tries a flashy kick or move and shoot for the takedown. No surprise, huh. Weidman is a quick learner, and his stand up is improved, so he could trade a little with Silva, but I don't think he wants to spend much time in the clinch. Odds tell me this one ends in mid to late Round 2, or early round 3, which should mean The Spider by stoppage. It's no secret that Silva has been wanting to retire for some time. Hell, he pondered the idea almost 10 years ago. I don't think the UFC would allow maybe it's best fighter ever to go out with a loss, muchless a KO. But, who knows, this won't be Silva's last fight anyways. These are very low odds for Silva backers, but I'm gonna stick to my guns and roll with Weidman +180 here. I'm in a hurry ATM, but I will be breaking this fight down further, along with the rest of the card. It is a good card all around. I will most likely be pounding Tim Kennedy -150. everyone have a great 4th and enjoy the extended weekend...

agree on kennedy but there have been some VERY questionable decisions lately and now we get a brash rookie bitching about how his employer pays him before he's even fought for them? he better not leave this one to the judges

I see Kennedy with a great chance at a KO. Good luck and enjoy the fights...

It is Silva's fight to lose until he does. I watched the Weidman/Munoz fight...sent Munoz into the depression chamber for a year he says. But Munoz was so slow and Silva's striking is arguably the best in the game. He has amazing offensive precision and excellent defense standing up.

Can Weidman get him to the ground like Chael? That is the game. If he gets Spider down once...can he do it over and over?

Call it square...I laid the juice...gl all

Roy Jones going to the fight and if Silva wins there is talk of a Silva/Roy boxing match, that would be nuts.

Been talked about for years and years, and Roy has agreed to it whenever, even if it is 3-4 years from now after the UFC contract is up...

Yeah Dana is the holdup obviously and you can't blame him. Very limited upside for the UFC to have Silva go through with it and Silva would probably lose if it was strictly a boxing match with 10oz gloves.

Tim Kennedy at -150 big time fellas. Bank it.

Yep yep. My biggest play of the night. Kennedy doesn't even finish people really and I think he can get a KO here. Only thing that concerns me is that most think Gracie should be the fav, and then Kennedy with his remarks about low pay this week. Hope it doesn't set him up for disaster, but he should over power this fight...
