The Atlanta Braves now have dropped two straight series and travel from Philadelphia to Miami to take on the Marlins tonight at 7:10 PM EST. Atlanta could not get a come from behind win yesterday in Philadelphia so now the Braves have lost eight of the last eleven on the road. This series with Miami could be seen as re hash of last weeks series in this matchup which Atlanta lost except in a different location. Atlanta's Mike Minor is 8-4 3.15 ERA overall this season but has atypically allowed five HR's in last three starts, Minor has struggled recently going 0-2 5.63 ERA in last four starts but has the discipline to get a quality road win. Minor will have to negotiate around Stanton and Morrison however who combined have 25 RBI's and 10 HR's since mid June. Miami as a team has only 53 HR's on the season but has hit 24 HR's in the last 27 games. Stanton although has not been as effective vs. Atlanta this season going 2 for 20 and eight K's compared to performances in last games in this matchup. Miami's Slowey is 3-6 4.24 ERA overall on the season but was 1-6 4.50 ERA in 13 starts before being demoted to the bullpen in June. Slowey is 1-2 4.58 ERA in three career starts vs. Atlanta. Slowey will have to face Brain McCann who is .594 with two HR's and seven RBI's in last eight games. McCann is seeing the ball very well right now and will look to provide multiple RBI's tonight. Miami has 18-24 Home Record but the Marlins are looking for the seventh home win in eight home games tonight even though having a three game losing streak coming into tonight action. Atlanta is an even 5-5 Last 10 but still dealing with issues with solid road play. If Minor can put a stopper on the HR ball, his mechanics and discipline can carry the Braves deep into the game but Atlanta will have to capitalize on Slowey's mistakes on the offensive end as well. The Braves do not want to fall behind early in this series adding even more pressure to the mix heading into the All Star Break next week. Atlanta will have to a better job of keeping tempers in check in this series as several players have been ejected in the past few days. A big factor tonight and throughout the series will be how well Atlanta can keep their composure when things turn south with the now added pressure of losing two straight series.
