Carlos Gomez’s incredible over-the-wall grab not only stole a home run from Cincinnati Reds slugger Joey Votto, giving the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 win Monday, but it also robbed one Covers Community member of $25,000.

Covers user redrum42, who had extended his Streak Survivor run to 20 correct picks, took the Reds (-128) over the Brewers at Miller Park Monday night. One more correct selection would have given redrum42 $25,000 and put him on track for 25 straight wins and the $100,000 grand prize.

Cincinnati was behind 4-3 with two outs in the top of the ninth when Votto launched a 2-2 pitch to deep center field. Gomez tracked the ball to the wall, leaped and pulled the ball back over the fence to seal the win for Milwaukee, handing redrum42 and other Reds backers one of the worst beats we’ve seen this summer.

first off the brewers would have got to bat again since they were the home team. No way did this guarantee his streak would have continued.

It still does not compare to the 17 inning debacle in Seattle where those two shit teams were scoreless thru 15 and cost many around here $$$ who had the under :(

A very nice catch thats all it was. A game ender. But not a guarantee like many on here thought we had after 9 scoreless innings.

It`s not the extent of the bad beat it`s the fact some guy had 25k riding on it.

I am sure he put a nice % of the 25k on Milwaukee to cover his rear. I am sure he has close to 13k in his hands today

Hard to consider this a 'bad beat' since he probably had a huge hedger in play on the Brewers. If he didn't then it would be a 'dumb beat'

Yes, not a bad beat, just a great catch. As far as the guy laying off 10K too win 12K Kazmania I would be surprised. Not that easy to move that much money around offshore, but possible.

I would consider it a bad beat if this had happened to me. Brutal game. You are never safe in the MLB
