My apartment complex only takes money orders for payment so every month I venture off and get one for $750. It is actually $500 for the one and $250 for the other.
Somehow I lost these money orders (going a few months back) I was at work this day and I don't know how they are gone but they were.
I went back to where I purchased them and the clerk remembered me purchasing them. I told the clerk what time I was
in [within a few minutes) and what else I purchased. The clerk gives me a copy of the store transaction which
shows the money order numbers on there, etc
So I write to Western Union and I fill out their form and have it notarized and send in $30 to have everything researched and get a refund.
The response I got back was surprising in that they more or less said that I proved that there was a "transaction" but didn't prove "ownership".
I do my best to provide further documentation. I enclose a copy of my rent statement showing the $750 as my base rent. I also enclose a copy of money orders purchased a couple weeks later (same amount) to replace the $750 I had lost. I also enclosed a copy of the prior month's money order receipt again showing the same amount purchased.
I am frustrated because I can go onto their automated system and it says the money orders have not been cashed.
Everything is via "snail mail" and I am frustrated. There's no chicanery here, the money orders haven't been cashed yet
I feel like I am getting dicked around.
