So much exposure now... Hard to keep going strong like back in the day. Who's the most recent group you'd call a great rock and roll band? Dave Matthews? I don't really keep up on music I guess.

Not Dave Matthews, lol, but to somebody it is...that's the thing, the subject is too broad. We all can name someone who is "great" and/or popular. Majority of the bands I like you will never hear them on the radio, and that's also the way the band likes it...

To me the R&R legends are the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors, Hendrix, more recently even Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Then you've got the solo/blues guys like Elvis, Muddy Waters, Johnny Cash. These are the kinds of artists we haven't seen in 20+ years.

Yeah, that's sort of my problem... The punk and hip hop I listen to aren't particular radio friendly. I do love older rock - Dylan, the Band, Van, and older punk stuff, 80s, some 90s... But man, the late 90s through now seem like a wasteland to me.

Problem is, there aren't too many 'bands' or 'groups'. Used to be a group got together and pulled the same way. Same musical ideology.

Now, you have lyricists, song writers, composition types, all uniquely partitioned. All equals a pop group, single hit. Marketed for success

Hard to find the band that plays what they wrote, sound how they want to sound, and thrive.

Even the recording is processed.

Last 'album' that you, could play start to finish???

Last iconic band? Maybe Guns n Roses, before them, Mötley Crüe, then you get into Zep, maybe. Perhaps something in between.

Shit, would love some more in put.

BTW, life long Gibson/Marshall player here!!!

Yes, perfect post. This is what I mean.
