According to George King of the New York Post, the Cubs and Yankees are nearing a deal that would send Alfonso Soriano back to New York, where he began his major league career back in 1999. The Cubs would receive what is termed a "mid-level prospect." The Cubs would also send money to the Yankees to complete the deal.
The 37 year-old Soriano has full no-trade rights as a 10-5 player, but King says he would not block a trade to the Yankees.

The Yankees have next to no chance of making the playoffs, with or without Soriano.

Exactly. This is non-news. Just creating the facade to their fans that they're still in it and still have a chance.

Soriano in NY and will bat clean up against the Rays tonight. Looks like the Yanks have solved all of their hitting problems...

The New York Yankees, desperately trying to stay in the playoff race, completed a trade Friday morning for Chicago Cubs slugger Alfonso Soriano that's expected to be approved by Major League Baseball.

The Yankees sent a minor league right-handed pitcher Corey Black to Chicago for Soriano. The Cubs, in exchange, have agreed to pay the bulk of Soriano's $18 million salary in 2014.

Let me be the first to proclaim this bum the biggest bust in the history of Free Agency. Terrible OBP and couldn't hit in the clutch to save his life. Notice the Cubs record during his illustrious run and please take a look at his 2 horrible playoff series. Yankees are chumps and must be real desperate to do this.

How you Yankee fans like this bum now? I see he has his usual .242 OBP. This guy is a loser and once he stopped taking the roids he is even worse. Cubs will be 20 games better next year.
