I think much of the success Clemson will have with SC will be determined in week one when Georgia comes to town. They could not catch Georgia at a better time, first game of the year and at home. Gives a big edge to Clemson with Boyd back. I think they could possibly beat Georgia in week one opposed to week 10.

The gamecocks have had a nice edge lately on Clemson. Having said that, I wonder if the Clemson win over LSU gives them the confidence they are lacking to finally give the cocks a ball game or possibly upset in William-Brice Stadium. With Tajh Boyd back they at least have a chance. I like the gamecocks to win the SEC this year so it will not be an easy feat. Curious what you SEC guys think.

Straight from the mouth of Jadaveon Clowney "We haven't lost to Clemsux since I've been here, and we won't as long as I'm here" -I hafta believe the man, and I sincerely hope he's right!! :)

Week 1 Clemson and GA. Should be hell of a game, lots of pts. I don’t anticipate muchdefense in this game, both teams averaged exactly 41 pts per a game last year.GA most likely has the best offense in the SEC, however they had to replacealmost their entire defense from last year. Clemson most likely has the bestoffense in the ACC, however their defense has progressively gotten worse eachseason under Dabo. GA is home next week hosting South Carolina, mean whileClemson host South Carolina St.

I think Georgia wins this game, but where do you guys think the total will be? Think it might be artificially high with everyone looking for both teams to score 4 TDs+? Even good offenses tend to sputter in season-openers.

IDK the total, but curious to see it. May take a look at playing the under as it sounds like everyone and their Mother is going to pound the Over, as they prob should. But, I could see them sputtering possibly as well because of the first game jitters and this being basically a must win game for both teams. What a way to start the season.

This is a fallacy that's been going around all off-season about UGA's D. Sure, they lost a lot of starters...but they did not lose "their entire defense from last year." They return 3 full-time starters and another 7 players who started 1 or more games. UGA suspended several players last year to begin the season. A few of them served 4 game suspensions. There were other "starters" who got invaluable playing time vs. South Carolina and other SEC teams. I'm not a UGA follower, but I read/study enough college football to know that they did not lose their "entire defense".

Clemson is returning a stout front 4. They got after LSU pretty good in the bowl game. I think the game is tighter than many think it will be. I haven't seen an O/U yet, but I'm not going to "jump" on it if it's perceived to be "too low". Be careful how you play this game. Every "square" out there thinks this will be a high scoring game. I see it more in line with 27-23 right now.

Here's another tidbit: it's not a given that Taj Boyd will be the best QB on the field that day either....

I am a die hard Carolina fan and I love this thread. Clemson v Georgia is a matchup made in heaven. I cannot wait to see this game. Georgia comes in replacing some very key defenseive players against one of the best offenses in the country. Could be ugly, but Georgia generally reloads with studs. The big questions is will the be up to speed in time to face the Tiger offense. My guess is they get worked early on in the game, but pick up on the schemes and start to create turnovers which Clemson is known to do.
The other side is the Georgia offense against the Clemson defense. I don't care about Venables and his defense, they will have a hard time containg the georgia offense. Murray is one of the best QB's in SEC history and can pick apart a secondary that has new faces as well. UGA also has a stout RB tandem in Gurly and Marshall. Clemson does have a decent front 4, but UGA returns a really good o-line, so it will be a tight battle. My guess is...first one to 50 wins.

Now...Clemson v South Carolina is another story. This write-up is based off of everyone for both teams being healthy come November. South Carolina has the won the last 4 in a row against Clemson (which they outscored Clemson 124-54), and they get them at Williams-Brice this year. USC is 26-3 at home since 2009 and that is a very strong number. USC has had Clemson's number ever since Tajh Boyd has had the reins and it shows. Since he first played against USC in 2009, he career numbers against USC are 33-71, 339 yds, 2 TD's, 3 INT's and a fumble. Yo do the math...not good. Sammy Watkins career numbers against USC...4 receptions for 39 yards and 0 TD's. Carolina has found a way to shut them down year after year since 2009 and it shows. I don't see thsi year being different. USC will likely be playing for a big time bowl spot at this point in the year, they will be very hungry for their last home game of the season.
I just don't think they can pull it off this year against what is very likely to be Spurrier's best team since he got to USC in 2005. I think they will be disappointed again in Novemeber and Tajh Boyd leaves Clemson without beating South Carolina.
And to top it off...Jadeveon Clwney said it best..."I don't know how it feels to lose to Clemson and I'm not gonna know either because we ain't losing to them while I'm here."

This Clowney statement is all I've used to comment on the Clemson vs USC game this year, and it's really all that needs to be said. You hafta believe him, and I have 100% faith in it.

As for the UGa game, I agree with what you stated, and I'm sure you are like me in that I am so glad we play on Thurs so I can for sure enjoy the UGa vs Clemson game live in it's entirety on Saturday.

I am thrilled to be able to watch every second of that game. It's not too often the season starts with one like that. I can't wait to see those 2 go at it.

My neighborhood has already flooded twice in the Upstate in the last few weeks. If Clemsux doesn't pull this game off at home to start the season, I'm afraid flood number 3 may be coming by way of tears...

Not only that, but I love that SoCar has two extra days of preparation against UGA. And while I'm definitely hoping for a UGA win in week one, I hope CLESMON runs them up and down the field all game.

Damn right! And you know Spurrier will maek the most of those extra 2 days. I think Clemson will wear them out and then we have to be ready to pound the rock when we roll into Athens.

Damn right! And, I think Mike Davis and Shon Carson are ready to just that. Davis has the chance IMO to step on the scene of RB's noone knew about. He runs and hits hard. I believe he wants to shine, and could be our "secret weapon" folks are not worried about. No one is talking about our run game, and if it exist like i think it will, then look out, the skies the limit...

Personally, I don't see Carson doing much out of the backfield, at least not early in the season, and barring any early injuries. I do have high hopes for Carson I just think he's missed too much to be much of a factor early. And besides, SoCar has a very capable HB2 in B. Wilds. I was very impressed with Wilds when he came in for Lattimore before he got banged up and I think it's even more of a testament to how much Davis has developed that he's getting the nod over Wilds. Suffice to say, I am very optimistic about SoCar's run game this year...if the OL can get it done.

Is it possible that Georgia will be looking ahead just a little? Last year, USC stepped on Georgia's face and broke their nose, to quote Larry Munson. By the way, on the total, it looks like the number will open around 71 or 72.

I actually meant to put Wilds, I really like this kid as well. Carson won't see much PT early anyways most likely, but still has a chance to be a factor in the long run.

The last 3 years actually. I don't think they can really look ahead. Granted, S. Car is the Conf. game, but they face back to back Top 10 Teams basically to start the year. IDK who wins the Clemson/UGa as it is really a toss up, but I do hope Clemson beats up on the Dawgs a little bit and softens them up for the following week.

The Dawgs will have one of the best scoring machines in the Nation

SC beat us up last year for sure-
Offense we have it all-My concern is defense-

should be a great game--But the Dawgs will out score Clemson 8-10 games-
