anyone ever have a 5dimes or heritage payout that is from a Canadian bank held by their local USA bank? Never had an issue before but am now told that checks written from a Canadian account will take 3-6 weeks to process under a new Foreign International Check Processing requirement. Explanation was that many forged checks or ones with insufficient funds have been coming in from Canadian banks. I asked how it's possible that in this day and age it takes a month to verify funds and they stuttered some explanation on how USA R&T numbers are 9 digits, Canadian ones only 8 digits so the two can't talk to each other in real time.

I agree, that is the one problem. The offshore gives way more options.
I've had 2 Canadian Checks from 5D in the last 2 months. The first, the Teller at my Credit Union had to ask her Branch Mgr if it was cool. He came over and ask what the check was for, and I said "A debt." He said from Canada? I said, "I don't care how I get paid as long as I get paid when someone owes me money." He said okay. I then told them that they better accept it because I intend on having another one every 2 months or so, and that I didn't mind if they held it to verify as I was only depositing it into savings anyways. He said thanks and told the Teller to proceed. No problems.
On the 2nd, same story, but this time they credited to my account 20% of it instantly, and held the 80% for 10 business days. I told them this was different than last time, but I was cool with it as I wasn't hurting for the money and was leaving it in a savings account anyways so do what you gotta do, but once again, expect another one in 2 months or so. All good to this day. the checks said, "Redeem at (forgot the name of the Bank) in New York".

this is just another in the line of troubling trends regarding offshore processing.
the DOJ understands exactly how all this processing works and will do anything to make each step more difficult.

Not interested in sending or receiving Money Orders. Fine just the way it is now. They take my Debit Card for free straight from my house, and my Credit Union takes the Canadian checks, so I'll let them keep sending them...
