Don't know if a thread has already been started for this..thought I throw it out there if not. Looks like it's close to being official.

Nah. He's gonna take a deal and basically get suspended for this year and all of next year, in order to avoid the lifetime ban

With that suspension he won't play again, but he will get paid in 2015

Is it even possible for MLB to give him life for anything other than three bad tests or gambling on baseball? Sounds like BS to me.

If I was the Yankees, I would leagally try to void that contract once he is off that suspension.. They have nothing to lose IMO.. He will be worthless after 2 years of not playing. Getting himself suspended and not being able to play is something the Yankees could attack by saying that this isn't what we signed up for..

You know, Arod could really screw over baseball if he told the truth about all the other players who used.

Read an article by Peter Gammons about this. I guess MLB is saying that in addition to being on the Biogenises list, A-Rod impeded the investigation somehow.
Thus the harsh punishment. Even if he strikes a deal, he will most likely be done. That's too much time for a 38 year old to miss. What a way to go out.

Yeah thats what ive heard as well , he's accused of obstructing the investigation and tampering with a witness.

Because they already knew he was a cheat when they signed him to that ridiculous contract. They should be held accountable just like A-Rod will be when they come down on him.

What, they should be allowed to tear the contract up?? Its baseball...guaranteed money...should not be allowed to get out of that.

I think the Yanks can and should be able to get out of the contract. I'm assuming they have some sort of morality clause, "if you get arrested or suspended, we don't pay"

BTW: suspended players don't get paid, so he won't be paid for the length of the suspension. If they want to fight it beyond that, it all depends on the wording of the contract and what promises / statements were made by both parties.

and for the record, they were stupid muthu fuckers for giving him that contract

If the Yankees get out of paying ARod, look for the Angels to start planting evidence against Pujols.
