Miniature Golf < Driving Range <= Par-3 Course < Real Course

Depends on what you're in the mood for. If it's just me and I'm looking to kill some time then I'd rather go to the range, be able to hit the driver and work out some kinks with clubs giving me trouble. But if I have a couple buddies and we can't play a full course (usually cause everyone sucks at golf, price, or time) I'd rather do a par-3.

Beer and a good looking girl is all you need on a Par 3 course.

I like Par 3 courses and also 9 hole courses. With the par 3's I can go out for a quick round and have some fun while also honing my short game. I always go out to the local 9 hole course to workout a few of the bad habits that I pick up from time to time in my game. I never know for sure if I have them worked out on the driving range. That's why I prefer the golf course.

Depends on the size of the course. I have been on some where all you need is a wedge and putter and others make you use all of your irons.

I don't know how many there are in other states, but we have a lighted par 3 course in my town. There's something about playing this course at night that makes it more fun.

Firefly golf course in Seekonk, Mass was a par 3(actually is par 60, not all par 3's) that use to have lights on the back side years ago but not sure if they still do. The course was built and designed by Womens golf legend Joanne Carner and her husband Don Hoenig back in 1962. I believe they still hold an annual state par 3 tournament there every year that draws the best amateur golfers in RI, Mass and CT. I think there are 12 par 3's and 6 par 4's on the course that measures about 3600 yards. Unique little course if you ever in the area...

Since my short game is all I have, yep, I love em.

If you have a short game you have more than 95% of all other golfers..........par 3 course in the town I live. They actually have bent grass greens, extremely rare in texas because of the heat. I've played it two times in the 9 years I've lived here.

looks nice QL - will have to check it out.

another good option for a semi-quick round is scholl canyon - built on a landfill - it is 18 hole par 60 in glendale, CA

personally I never play par 3 courses...haven't since i was starting out. I don't enjoy 9 holes as much either. I guess i'm too much of a competitor and I like to see what my 18 hole score is.

but I do need a LOT of work on my short game and I have a feeling par 3 practice would do wonders for my game

Go golfing every year somewhere for a week or two - last year we went to Michigan (best value in the country) to Tree Top - they have a par 3 course that is great - supposed to be as good Augusta
