The last few months I've been watching a lot of Asian movies, with other foreign movies mixed in.

If possible can you guys who are up on this post titles of foreign movies your would recommend to watch for those of us interested.?

Also, many of these films I've watched on Netflix, so I'm wondering what to do once that route runs dry....??

Thanks fellas (<)<

The Intouchables (Intouchables) (France) Hugely popular worldwide, The Intouchables has grossed a staggering $400 million+ at the box office. It is inspired by the true story of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, a wealthy aristocrat who became a quadriplegic as the result of a 1993 paragliding accident. In the film, Philippe lives an isolated life on his estate, rapidly tiring of each nursing caretaker he hires. Along comes Driss, a Senegalese ex-con robber who shows up for an interview so that he can get a signature on a piece of paper proving that he is seeking employment. Much to everyone's surprise, Philippe hires him.
The rest of the plot is pretty standard, as the African teaches the rich white guy to enjoy life and the rich white guy introduces the African to the beauty of Western culture. The Intouchables has been much-criticized for being predictable and for promoting racial stereotypes, a charge that is particularly relevant when one considers that the caretaker in real life was not black African, but Arab. Perhaps it is this uncomfortable portrayal that kept the film from earning a nomination. Nonetheless, it is easy to see why the film is so popular: both Philippe and Driss are likable characters and there is enough humor to make The Intouchables an engaging watch.

Cinema Paradiso
Giuseppe Tornatore's Oscar-winning film follows Salvatore, a Sicilian boy who is mesmerized by the movies shown at the local theater. He befriends projectionist Alfredo, who mentors him and ultimately tells him to leave home to pursue his dreams. Now a famous film director, Salvatore returns home for the first time 30 years later for Alfredo's funeral and is overcome with warm memories of his childhood even as the town has changed.

Croupier is great ^^

these are not current, so you'd probably have to torrent them or something: Burnt by
the Sun, To Live, Pan's Labyrinth, City of Lost Children, Run Lola Run...

I really like subtitles, they can mask bad acting :)

Yes Doug, mostly....

I don't have the patience for it but I think it would be a great learning tool, if you were studying French or whatever language and could hear it with subtitles to read. I don't may rapt attention to a movie and often look at stuff on the computer during a movie.
