Tragedy struck last night at Turner Field in Atlanta as a fan fell from the stadium to their demise resulting in death during the course of the Atlanta/Philadelphia game. Many are still in shock today and even though most will have a somber and sad mood tonight for game two the two teams will have to re focus and carry on. Medlen is 9-10 3.89 ERA overall on the season but is looking for a fourth straight win tonight. Medlen was 0-3 8.59 ERA before this recent turnaround where run support was an issue but the Atlanta offense has posted 16 runs in Medlen's most recent starts. Medlen is 1-2 6.61 ERA vs. Philadelphia this season and will face Chase Utley who has a .333 average with five extra base hits in a seven game hitting streak at Turner Field. Michael Young is .111 in last 14 road games however and still mired in an overall slump. Martin is 1-1 6.25 ERA for Philadelphia and is making his third MLB start tonight. Martin allowed a solo HR and three hits in five Inning Pitched last outing and will face Chris Johnson with a .333 average with four doubles and two HR's vs. Philadelphia this season. Johnson is .394 in last 17 games but must improve with keeping his temper in check as his outburst and ejections have put Atlanta in some bad situations. Jason Heyward is .393 in last 13 games and continues to play excellent defense as well. Cole Hamels put the lockdown on Atlanta hitting last night only one out away from a shutout so the Braves will be anxious to get back in a offensive grove tonight. Atlanta may have a heavy heart for the deceased fan and even dedicate tonight's game to the man and his family.
