Hey fellas. You know, every year for the past 10 years I've always wanted to experience what a tailgate was like for an SEC game. See I'm a westcoast guy. My avatar speaks for itself. My tailgates in L.A. were cool. But I always had the basics. Burgers, chicken drumsticks, tons of beer flowing. Adding breakfast to the menu was probably the biggest step up. But lets be real. I want to experience a real tail gate. Although games against UCLA and Notre Dame are steeped in tradition I can't imagine any of my national championship years even coming close to a AUB/Bama or FLA/Tenn game, etc, etc. Not to be stereotypical but I'm a Hawaiian guy who'd stick out like sore thumb at a tailgate in the south. Nonetheless I'm willing to take being out of place just to experience great food, southern hospitality and most of all the energy of an SEC game. Any suggestions or even invites? Thanks much. 3peet. (btw, this is one of my bucketlist items)

I'm going to Lexington for Kentucky/Florida & Jacksonville for FL/GA this year. If I can land a ticket, going to make FL at South Carolina.

Been to 100+ Gator games in Gainesville. Been to Baton Rouge twice. Knoxville at least 8 times. Vandy once. Auburn once.

Baton Rouge was fun...but I went when Spurrier was coach and UF was still kicking their ass on a yearly basis (they won once, in 1997 during Spurrier's tenure)....so they were pretty humble fans.

Been to Baton Rouge for many games and have always had a good time. Also, FWIW, ive ever had any bad interactions with LSU fans at the games (even the games when we beat LSU).

My only complaint (and its a stretch to call it a complaint) about LSU tailgating is that its very spread out. Basically, LsU fans take over any green space on campus. I think that might make it slightly more difficult for a visitor like 3peet to enjoy everything. Whereas, at Ole Miss, all tailgating is concentrated in the Grove and the Circle right next to the Grove. Visitors can meander through and stop at various tailgates. Also, the stadium and the Square are easy walks from the Grove. I usually park my car on Friday and never touch it again until Sunday morning.

Chop, LSU is my favorite SEC road trip. The stadium is just nuts and being so close to New Orleans makes it a great trip. Ill be down there in 2014.

ive tailgates at every SEC venue except Mizzou, Texas A&M, and Kentucky. I'd rank Ole Miss first and Lsu second (admittedly, I have reason to be a little biased though).

renting a tent on the quad in t-town is pretty damn unique but i wouldn't call it an insane tailgating experience. will be in lexington for tide game this year and that'll be a great show...got about 15-20 of us, mostly uk guys. i'll be in ttown for col state but since it's the week after aTm it will be a quiet week for tailgating even if it is first home game of year

for a big home game the quad is a tremendous spot but for a so-so home game it's nothing to get too fired up over. i'd probably hit baton rouge or ole miss if i was out of towner with no allegiance to a team looking to experience a great atmosphere. if you add in the southern hospitality that will KO coonassville so i'd say hit up oxford

i don't know what to expect. my buddy went to school at sc and said it's crazy.

Same here. Family and myself had reserved parking spot and season tickets for 30+ years...I love it! It has changed dramatically over the years. the new improvements have really clean the place up and make it look top notch.

MattyMatt, I went to South Carolina in 2009. Alabama fans and LSU fans never believe me when I say this, but South Carolina is the loudest stadium I've ever been in. The stadium was crazy although it was a bit of a perfect storm for y'all. Ole Miss came there ranked #4 in the country (definitely overrated but still). In addition, it was a Thursday night game.

I think we were losing 17-13 or so. One possession game regardless. We had the ball with 1:30 or so left driving for the win. The stadium was so loud, my buddy and I just looked at each other and knew there was no chance. Didn't convert on a 4th down and the game was over. Was a really disappointing loss but had a great time.

Yea it's awesome. The thing with the fans are that they show up in numbers every year, Win or Lose, and root on the Team regardless. I sat through 2 seasons of every home game, and a few away games when we amassed a 1-21 record...

You will have the time of your life. The area around the stadium has drastically changed. I've been going my entire life and also went to school there. It doesn't even look like the same place.

Have any of you been to smaller colleges for tailgating? I'm planning a James Madison game this year (in Harrisonburg, VA).

Loomis, Tennessee's stadium is awful! The tailgate/partying is fun, but the stadium is a rickity pos!
