The Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Brandon Beachy has shown character on the long road back from Tommy John Surgery. Beachy had a MLB low 2.00 ERA in June of 2012 before injury and has had to rededicate himself with the long road back from rehabilitation. Beachy is 1-0 5.00 ERA since returning to the Atlanta rotation and posted an unfortunate and disappointing 9.00 ERA in first two starts. Beachy however only allowed three hits in eight Innings Pitched in last outing and now will face Philadelphia tonight in the deciding game three of this series. Beachy will have some extra motivation tonight going 0-3 3.77 ERA in eight career games vs. Philadelphia. Lannan is 3-5 4.81 ERA on the season for Philadelphia and only 1-2 7.52 ERA in last four outings. Lannan allowed a career tying worst eight runs in five Innings Pitched in last start but has gone 9-5 3.24 ERA in 17 career starts vs. Atlanta. Chris Johnson provided the big HR last night and leads the National League with a .337 average. Johnson also has 3 HR's and 9 RBI's in last seven games vs. Philadelphia. Jason Heyward is 1 for 11 vs. Lannan but 4 for 8 in this sereis and .480 average in last six games. Philadelphia has dropped 18 of 22 scoring two runs or fewer in 12 games and 12 of 13 road games overall. Dan Uggla now on the DL for corrective eye surgery but Tyler Pastornicky filling in nicely so far in Uggla's absence. Atlanta fans hope Beachy's shaky first few games back are now in the rear view mirror and should be encouraged by Beachy's last outing. Beachy will now look to finally post a win over Philadelphia as this National League East Division series weighs in the balance. Source: ESPN MLB Preview.
