No personal experienceand I don't know what the rate difference is between guys and girls offering the service. But from dropping the guys at the massage parlor rub and tugs the handy usually costs and extra 20... oral is around 60 and for the rest its 100 and up. But they ask fot Cash up front.

Do guys usually bill? And it was just for a handy?

That was a funny answer...

Back to the subject at "Hand" lol

I think it would also depend on where you Live. You might get someone at $10-$12 an hour in your area. In NY it might be $15-$20

BAS, you're crazy. A handyman charges $50/hour or more. Some charge per job. These guys have overhead, they drive all over town (gas ain't cheap), and are usually "jacks of all trades".

I hired one (who was a friend of a friend) and he did a couple of odd jobs that I didn't have the tools or the know-how and he was here for just over an hour and I paid him $100.

In any city you can find a decent guy in the 15-20 dollar range. My father charges about that in NYC

So here's something I found on the internet

In the greater Atlanta metro area, locksmiths charges range from $35.00 to $50.00 service call, $15 - $35 to install the deadbolt, depending on if the door and jamb is allready bored and cored, (holes drilled) for the lock. This would be a simple change out. The other is more complicated and takes more tools and more time. Professional handyman companies charge $50 - $75 per service call plus the time to install the lock, usually about an hour, for another $50 - $75. Use a locksmith. They are more experenced and if you have bought the cheaper lock, they often present more problems installing.
To summerize, service call say $40 + install fee say $25 + making the holes $35 totals $100, in the Atlanta area. More remote locations may be more, larger metro areas like New York may be more. Some rural areas may be less.

However with a little negotiation, his price would have come down to under 20 bucks

Yeah mine was the more complicated. The only lock i had was just a door handle lock. He had to drill the large hole in the door and then chizzle and drill the sides for the latch. ... So it ended up being a fair price.

What's the job and for what area? I work for a company that creates pricing models for insurance company and contractor estimates. I just need like "3 sets of 4' tall vinyl shutters labor and materials" and I can give you a pretty good breakdown.

BAS, the union carpenter is also getting benefits (medical, retirement, etc). I would imagine a "handyman" that works for a company (more of a "maintenance" man) probably makes $15-20/hour.

These "handyman" companies are guys that are self-employed. I wouldn't hire a handyman to come into my house for $20/hour because he probably doesn't know what the fuck he's doing!

First of all, what they charge varies by region (in Florida I paid $45 to have a 2000sq ft 4br house cleaned, here in DC I pay $75 for a 1200sqft 3br).

These guys have to have a business license, insurance, etc. They also have overhead (their vehicle, gas, insurance, supplies, tools, etc). There's no way some dude is going to drive to your house and do a 1 hour job for $20...then drive 15 miles to his next job for $20....and so forth.

Hell, there's a place less than a mile from my house where all the illegal's hang out for "day work". They usually ask for AT LEAST $10/hour. You have to bargain with them. But they usually start around $15 and will not go below $10 (from my experience, and my neighbors who have hired them for odd yard work type jobs).

Additionally, most of them will ask you what you want done....and they usually will quote you a price for the job. Similar to what flooring guys do (they'll generally charge you per square foot....sometimes it may take 4 hours to do the job...and sometimes it may take 6 to do the same amount of square footage).

They "make" around $50/hour...but they probably only charge 4-6 hours/day unless they have an all-day job. So, they are making $200-$400/day.

"Handy Man"......what kind? A kid to come hang pictures in your living room? $10-$15 an hour......or let's say somebody to come hang a ceiling fan? Prob $50 a fan........clean out a flower bed? Depends on the size and how bad it is.......I doubt any real handy man that knows much is going to work for $12hr
