I am looking to purchase a club that gets 210-225 yds with decent control. I can get that yardage with my 3 iron I just lose some control due to my swing. I am looking at PING G15 maybe a 17 degree option? Any help would be appreciated.

That Ping is a hybrid, have decent distance with my irons just lose some control when I'm pressing for yardage. I would like a club that I could get the 220 yards with out having to over swing, thus maintaining some control. Thanks for the reply.

I have the same issue as you mention above. Bought a 2 hybrid and couldn't hit very well at all. My advice, stick with your 3 iron...

Rocketballz Stage 2 Tour Rescue 4 (21 degrees which I adjusted up 1 degree). Nice 80 gram shaft, weight of a 3 iron but much more consistent. This club has replaced my 3 iron and can go farther when I jump on one.

Got a g15 17*. I call it my 2iron since my 3i is 208-215. I hit this club about 228 on the money.

17 degree is more like a 5 wood. I think that is going to go farther than the 210-225 you are looking for if you are getting that out of a 3 iron. Standard 3 iron loft is 21 degrees. Most people will be able to hit a hybrid farther than a long iron. I had a 19 degree hybrid in my bag for a long time but have recently gone back to a 3 iron. I think you need stay between 19 and 21 degrees if you are looking for 210-225 yards.

It took me a while to understand the true golf swing. Once I finally learn to strike an iron correctly it took me another 3 months to calibrate my distances. I treat my hybrid as a 3/4 swing club. I know the distance I hit it on the fairway. Off the tee box is another story. I agree with keeping the 3 iron in the bag.

Thanks for the reply's, really appreciate them. I'm going to the shop tomorrow and I'll let you guy's know what happens. What ever route I take, I'll play this weekend and have a pressure situation on Monday that I would like to perform my best. Thanks again.

The three you need to check out are Callaway X-Hot, TaylorMade Stage 2, and the Ping G25. 20-21 degree loft will be comparable to your three iron, but the hybrid will have a higher ball flight. I have tested all of these and the X-Hot has the highest ball speed (hottest face) and distance, plus the Project X 6.0 shaft is good, for a stock shaft.

Now is also a good time to buy, because they are on sale (except for the Ping). The new lines will start rolling out by mid-September.
