java,script....?

is this something i need to have on my computer? ive never updated it since i was having those problems before so i didn't put it back on,but i keep getting a notice that it is available but im not sure i want any problems again.can anybody tell me what purpose it serves and if i really need it.

You won't be able to see any sites that run Java, Like SportsOptions.

a lot of site use it.

NOW, I will tell you as long as it came from your Computer and not just some Pop up... it's fine.

I would definitely update java if I were you as it would be a necessity for some things as BAS suggested.

Yeah, Java and Javascript are different.

Java creates applications that run in a virtual machine or browser while JavaScript code is run on a browser only.

JavaScript resides inside HTML documents, and can provide levels of interactivity to web pages that are not achievable with simple HTML.

true that.. script is the language on your comp.. java is the virtual language used on the net for websites/games/apps/etc

Make no mistake, Java is essential in most of all of our everyday use, we just don't realize it....without java currently, there would be thousands of unusable apps/gaming systems/programs/websites/etc and sure they can all be recoded differently but it would take forever to overhaul..instead people continue to use java which makes sense.

very easy language to learn and program in, as well. Super useful.

But yeah, as Murph says, keeping it updated is good practice.

This.

Best bet is to completely uninstall the version you have and then go to Java.com and install the latest version.
