The Miami Marlins Starting Pitcher Jose Fernandez, a contender for the National League Rookie Of The Year, looks to become the first Marlin rookie pitcher in ten years since Dontrelle "D Train" Willis to win six straight consecutive decisions tonight in Atlanta as the Braves and the Marlins start a weekend series. Fernandez is 10-5 2.30 ERA overall on the season and leads all rookie pitchers with 165 K's. Fernandez also has a 1.33 ERA in last eight starts and will look to remain dominant tonight in Atlanta. Atlanta swept Cleveland last night with Brian McCann providing a huge three run Home Run. McCann has five HR's 15 RBI's and a .344 average in last 17 home games vs. Miami but may be offensively shut off tonight if Fernandez can bring an A game that is as good as advertised. Teheran is 10-7 3.28 ERA overall on the season for Atlanta and was 3-1 1.75 ERA in previous six starts before allowing four runs two HR's and a season high five BB's in last outing loss vs. St Louis. Teheran is 1-0 2.92 ERA in two starts vs. Miami and tonight will be Teheran's opportunity for a bounce back start but will have to improve on BB's for maximum effectiveness. Teheran does have an outstanding pick off move that may pay benefits if Teheran does happen to issue some free passes. Justin Upton may not play due to being hit by pitch last night. Freedie Freeman may be back in lineup however as Freeman is .395 in nine games vs. Miami this season. Miami has dropped 8 of last 9 overall but an outstanding outing by Fernandez tonight may give Atlanta all the Braves can chew. Gametime is 7:30 PM EST with chance of showers for most of the Labor Day Weekend. Source: ESPN MLB Preview.
