For my grandmother's funeral; not sure how I am going to keep it together. Any advice? I know breathing will help but that's all I got. No mind altering substances of any kind.

Keep in mind she had a long life - and focus on the things that she was proud of, or things that made her happy. Remember that everyone dies, but not everyone gets a full life beforehand - and that is something to take comfort in.

first, let me say that im sorry for your loss. second, i dont understand why you feel it is necessary to post stuff like this on a sports betting/gambling forum. do you have friends or family that you can speak with in person? im not trying to be rude or cold hearted but this just seems like an attention getting ploy to me. for whatever reason....just kind of strange dude...

The viewing/wake and the service are the tough parts , carrying the casket from the hearse to the plot wont be the hard part. When the preacher speaks will be the tough part.

I'm not big on religion but in this case i'll say God Bless !

Appreciate the kind words. For those who decided to post something negative...I feel bad for your mothers.

Ive done it a few times. Its an honor and a job and you were chosen because you are a man who is a pillar of the family. You hold your head high and you set an example for the young kids watching. You'll do fine.

Ditto to this.

It's not as hard as you think it's gonna be. It's like some weird instinctual thing, I just don't comprehend/display the grief during that part, it's the anticipation of it and the settling in of the feelings afterwards that always get to me. I've had to carry buddies in their 20's to their final resting place while mothers and fathers wept and it just didn't ever register at that moment. Someone in their 90's...I mean, death happens, be thankful she lived that long of a life and you all were blessed to know her for that long.

My problem is that I don't process grief well and hold a lot of emotions in.

I'm the same way, just use it to your advantage for that one day. Don't let your emotions come out for that one day, because others in your family will be looking to you to be a rock. That's what I always tell myself...that I'll be the rock in the moment and then deal with my emotions more privately.

sorry for your loss...its easy to get choked up at funerals I just try to focus on celebrating their lives rather than the sadness of it all, just try and think positive thoughts

She was happy as can be; lost her husband 34 years ago. We all can learn valuable life lessons from senior citizens.
