Yesterday nascar handed down the biggest fine in history.

They fined Michael Waltrip racing 300k , and disqualified driver Martin Truex Jr from the "chase" replacing him with Ryan Newman who was 1st driver out.

Nearing the end of last weeks race at Richmond driver Clint Bowyer wrecked (supposedly on purpose) which altered the finishing order of the race allowing Truex to make the chase.

Nascar has some obscure rarely ever used rule that says a driver can not intentionaly wreck to alter his or any other drivers finishing posistion.

The reason this is a very rarely used rule is b/c you cant detrmine visualy if a wreck was on purpose , but in this case the dumbass Bowyer made it easy by admitting it over his radio.

CLINT BOWYER : YOU ARE A DUMBASS !

NASCAR : CALL VINCE MCMAHON B/C THIS IS ALL A BIG PIECE OF WORK !

300K is chump change in Nascar

This kind of thing happens all year, for team points positions, etc.

Be a lot more fun, and 'sport-legit' if there were no 'teams'

True to a degree but nascar has not enforced this rule since the 1968 rebel 500 at darlington , and wouldnt have been enforced here had it not been for in car radio communication. ... Pretty damn big deal actually.

There was something with Phil Barkdoll in the 95 gatorade twin 125 qualifying race at daytona but he withdrew so nascar didnt have to look like wrestling.

Pretty embarrasing for nascar. ... and might i say again - CLINT BOYER IS A DUMBASS !

Loose lips sink ships !

I think Bowyer should have been docked some chase points, but I think this sent a message about teams and drivers doing this in the future on the final reg season race. Will still continue to happen to an extent during the regular season though, when it's not so glaring

Bowyer did get docked 50 points but it doesnt really matter as he didnt make the chase , but his teamate Truex was dq'd from the chase. ... just say your tire blew or your hand slipped , they cant tell from replay if it was on purpose or an accident ... but when you admit it ?!?! STUPID !

Are you by any chance an old school nascar fan ? i got some Delma Cowart stories.

I have a couple friends that race locally, obviously not 'NASCAR'.. Being from the south, I know some decent history..but i'm more of a casual fan. I have no idea who Delma Cowart is, heh. I would probably do pretty good on some Nascar trivia though

For many years now I've thought NASCAR would be awesome if it was completely staged....the sport has been in a steady decline since the death of Earnhardt Sr. and having a guy win 7 out of the last 9 championships doesn't help either. Watching NASCAR in its current form is like watching paint dry.

bowyer was a complete idiot, why people admit to things is beyond me...

NASCAR overplayed their hand when the economy was good. Too much expansion, too corporate. Now, they are stuck in a place where they have lost the casual fans and alienated the die-hards. Plus, the races are boring, the drivers have no personality, and the season is too long.

i've flipped on a few races this year and was shocked at how empty every stadium has been. i remember 10 years ago nascar being the "next big thing" and now it's an afterthought

heard something about the fine and waltrip but didn't bother reading into it. do they have a vid or audio of bowyer saying he'll wreck on purpose? would be funny to hear that...post if possible

For the high end drivers its all about endorsements. The average driver salary is in the 1-3 million range but drivers like Earnhardt Jr , Stewart , Gordon and even Danica Patrick earn over 20 million in endorsements.

If Vince ran the show it would become a mockery, but there is so many WWE fans it isnt even funny so I guess people would like it. :ohno:

I don't think Gordons numbers come out when he and Brooke split they really fought letting them out

Wally D numbers come out when he went to court but can't remember them

It would also be entertainment, and that's something it is not now, entertaining.
