Have had back problems the last few years stemming from a sports injury. It has progressively gotten worse and I have tried everything including PT, exercises to concentrate only on the back, etc. Keep seeing these and been thinking about going to one to see if I can get any help. What are they like? Any bad experiences?

Solid post. I went to a pain management clinic in Florida. Basically a pill mill for people seeking meds. The "doctor" wrote me a script for 100 roxys without examining my injury. Had trouble finding a pharmacy that would fill it because of the demand. Like Loomis said the shit will consume your soul.

Im not looking for pain meds. Just trying to figure out what is going on and my doctor has kind of pushed it under the rug. It is to the point that it truly keeps me from doing things I want at times and trying to figure out what to do.

Most pain management clinics are pill mills for the most part.

Find a legit one or try an orthopedist.

What's the injury?

My dad takes muscle relaxers and uses controlled temperature devices to deal with his pain (his neck basically fell apart from stress). He also has a few drinks...

This is a terrible post. My back injury was so painful that I could simply not function in a daily capacity without it. Not all of us are drug addicts and not everyone gets addicted to pain meds. Some use it responsibly until your injury is taken care of.

Parlays, feel free to PM me. Been through it all to include meds, therapy, pain management, PT and surgery.

Which is why said avoid it at all costs/as a last resort...sometimes it's needed but VERY rarely. Proper diagnosis is the key to recovering form any injury or accident.

Saying it's needed very rarely is your opinion. Truth is, nobody knows. I'm not going to judge someone if they say they're in pain.

Well, going to be forced to now. My doctor was in Dallas and I just moved to Tulsa. Was just looking into the pain management places to see if they were legit and actually had some help, or if all they were going to offer were pills.

End of the day....most of these place like to push pills or treatments that have little to no effect....and bill the fuck out of your ins. company. Find a real doctor who is a specialist in this area.

Sounds like you were misdiagnosed

Uh no. I had an MRI and they knew it was a herniated disc from the get go. When you have a back injury, you don't just jump to surgery. You try PT while using your meds to control the pain. You try steroid injections and lots of rest. If all this fails and the pain is unmanageable, surgery is a last resort.

Have you suffered a serious back injury? It's one of the worst things possible.

And again, this is your opinion. The steroid injections I received at my pain clinic relieved a ton of pressure.
