PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Dozens of local Transportation Security Administration workers have been fired or suspended after they were caught in an illegal gambling ring at Pittsburgh International Airport.
TSA sources tell the KDKA Investigators that the officers were fired or suspended Thursday morning.
The investigation took a few months. TSA took a look at more than 300 of its employees who work at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Sources confirm TSA employees on the job set up an office betting pool of sorts, employees betting year-round on all of the big sporting events, the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, the World Series, the Stanley Cup and more.

The TSA says no-one made big money, and there will be no criminal charges filed.
However, sources confirm the employees recommended for termination did “make a little money off of the top.”
TSA sources confirm none of the betting affected any of the security at the airport.
All told, five employees were recommended for termination, 47 for suspension and 10 given letters of reprimand.
The TSA released this statement: “TSA holds all of its employees to the highest standards of conduct and accountability. The agency has taken the appropriate and necessary steps to discipline those involved to include employment terminations, suspensions or letters of reprimand.”
All of the employees will go through an official appeal process before they are formally suspended or terminate

That sucks it was over some friendly office pools.

That's why I never mix gambling and work. Whenever they do the march madness brackets and super bowl squares at work, I never participate. I tell them I don't really like to gamble because I never win.

I read it differently than you. Sounds like the guys running this took a cut off the top which is why they were fired

Makes me sick. These are things people do at work to get through the day, make life a little more interesting. Obama does a bracket every year, and I'm sure they have a White House pool. Total hypocrisy and BS.

The US Marshalls would always ask me to help fill out their cards when I would drop off my monthly paperwork.

I'd rather have the employees at Pittsburgh Intl. doing this than just about any other way they can kill time (IE., something involving passenger's belongings).
